Regulars

I have a couple of "project" violins for the winter.
One has no label, is a lovely dark colour, fine inlaid purfling and a one piece back. But looks tatty and in need of sanding and varnish.
If I sand it (a lot! under the bridge area) will it lose it's colour?
It also needs a new nut and some pegs.
The scroll is so irregular it looks like its hand carved and not machined. ( and no paint in the pegbox, only old varnish.
The other is a better condition Chinese "Stentor" that needs a tidying up.
I'll try uploading some pictures over the weekend
I am amazed at how old people of my age are.....
