Hello,I went to a violin shop and consulted a luthier. He confirmed that those were not hairlines and cracks.
That's a relief. They were too kind to also fix the pegs, bridge, soundpost and the strings. They only charged me for the new strings. Yay!
Excellent news - happy for you !

I told him about your concern and he said not to be concerned, it happens a lot. Then he showed me factory wood patches inside of a double bass.
It's ok.
That's something for me to add to my (limited) knowledge ! If you hadn't posted your concerns, then those of us in ignorance of this type of thing would have been none the wiser !
I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh -
Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

@rheya - yup - that's what posting questions does - you'll get feedback from folks of all levels of knowledge - sometimes contradictory (through ignorance, like my original response) and sometimes "on the spot" by those who have been there, seen it, done it !!!!
I am enlightened .... (so long as the cleats/patches are on the back-plate center-line LOLOL - yup I get that now !) and when you feel ready, please share the sound of your new violin - whatever level you are at - it matters not - we would love to hear it !
Thanks again for the interesting and ultimately educational (well, to me it was) post !!!! There is no such thing as a "silly question" ( you may get silly answers.... but that happens LOLOL )
