I have never liked how a chin rest can dominate the looks of a violin and recently I removed the shoulder rest and went back to FM's sponge (I like how light the violin feels).  So to eliminate some weight I cut the chin rest down by removing the parts that never touch me.  I like it.chinrest-024.JPGImage Enlargerchinrest-027.JPGImage Enlarger
