I decided to tidy the string section of the house and decided to make a new three instrument rack.
It too about an hour plus drying time (2hrs)
Too Easy
Have a go
First drill some holes in a piece of wood
Then make one big dowel into 6 little dowels
Glue the dowels into the holes in the wood
Slap on some brown stuff
Put it on a wall
Stand back and admire
Just Too Easy
Seen it all. Done it all. Can't remember most of ..... What was I saying????

@EJ-KiszOne thing to remember is to get the distance from the top peg and the bottom peg right, otherwise they will hang badly. The distance between a top and bottom peg is about 1 1/4".
You have them offset because you hang the violin off the tuning pegs? I have a little hanger that hangs off my music stand, but the hanger posts are parallel and not offset. The violin hangs straight off this, but it doesn't hang off the tuning pegs, it hangs off the neck (like a guitar would).

I was looking at that and wondering about holding the violin by the pegs. With all the guitar/bass holders I've worked with, you always held them by the headstock and not the tuning pegs.
I want mine to look like one of those hidden arsenal walls that you see in action movies! Ya know, a little bit of everything to choose from! Add a few new violins, a guitar or 2, a couple of basses, Uke, rosin cakes, different bows, capo's, mutes, et. LOL

Hanging them by the pegs won't hurt them. I see it in music shops often.
That wasn't the question (at least not mine). Let me try again. I wanted to know why you offset your pegs, was it because you are hanging it from the tuning pegs? If so, was this by choice - given the fact that there are alternative ways of hanging a violin that don't involve the tuning pegs.

Yes, they are offset because they are hanging by the tuning pegs. I had seen it done this way before and decided to go that way. It seemed as good as any method. They aren't going to fall off.

Yeah, that makes sense. Thanks! I'm trying to decide which way to go when I build my rack. You're an inspiration!
