Ignore the background on these pics - Ruby was hanging crooked so I rotated the pictures to make more sense. The back -
The color is pretty true on my monitor. Still not as deep as I see it in my mind.
Nice shape, eh? I am really happy with the back, even though it has no flames. The grain is really popping! The front -
The shot of the whole fiddle was blurry, so this is what ya get And a shot of the scroll -
The finish isn't really as textured as this picture seems to suggest, but it's not smooth like a sprayed finish either. A few more coats will even out the color (fingers crossed) and it will all come together and as the varnish shrinks over the years, it should look better and better.
I arsed up the third coat of varnish on the belly and had to rub it off. I knew going in that it wasn't a good day to varnish - I just wasn't feeling it - but pushed on anyway and paid for it with an added delay. Nothing is un-fixable, but it is frustrating. Sometimes the hardest part of making/-building anything (for me) is knowing when to walk away.

The color is developing just beautiful, though. That looks like it is going to end up gorgeous.

Just WOW! Is all I can say Cat. Let me know if you have a Paypal account. I would like to pay you this month because I have a royalty check coming in and next month I may be hurting a bit from a record label battle and my wifeys health issues bills are due. Great job Cat, you really put your heart and soul in what you do.

Though so far I have not made any posts on this one, I have been following with the same interest as you will take on your baby's growth. A great job CatMcCall and MGN I envy you.

Can't believe it's been seven months! Due to some Personal Crap, I've been away from the world in general for far too long.
Checking in to say that I have not forgotten Ruby - she is nestled snug in her case until I get the heat & humidity in my new studio under control and will get her final coats of varnish very soon. Really. This time I mean it!

Dumped a bunch of excess B.S. out of my life and have found peace once more. It was a long, hard road but I've learned my lessons and it will never happen again
