I was able to get rid of a strong wolf tone in my cello, using a fishing weight. It's about 5 grams and clamps right on to the string, and the wolf tone is gone completely!

A while back, some one posted having a violin with a wolf tone.  I suggested the expedient of using a fishing lead split-shot as a wolf tone eliminator.  No clue if is was ever used.  Nice to see that the idea had some merit.

The fishing weight is a very creative solution. Essentially the same as a wolf eliminator 🙂
