• Please begin by telling us anything you would like to about yourself. Age, place of birth, residence, etc.
Well, my name is Erich Feldhaus, I am about to be 53 years young on April the 19th .  Born in Paris Texas not far from the Oklohoma border. (Red River) Moved to Dallas to find work and have been here ever since.  One very understanding wife of 30 years  and Three semi understanding children.

• What made you decide to play the violin?
I have always loved the sound of the violin, to me it has always been the ultimate instrument.

• How long have you been playing the violin? I bought a violin when I was 18 at a pawn shop but couldnt make a sound , didnt know about rosin. Took it back a week later. (no enternet  back then). The next time I held one was at the tender age of 49.  So about 4 years.

• How often do you play? How long are your practice sessions?
I probably play three or four times a week. Sesseons can run any where from 10 min. to 3 or 4 hours.

• In your opinion, what's your proficiency on the violin?
I play pretty…

I pourposly left out something because I dont want anyone feeling bad for us.

But on reflection, it is a defineing event in my familys life and pretty much shaped the path we took over the last 30 years.

We have three children , the oldest boy was in the military now works for the railroad. The yongest is my girl and she graduated from Texas Tech and has a good job now. But my middle son has had the roughest go of it.

He was born with kidney failure and was on paratenial diallisis for the first two years of his life. This was 25 years ago.  I donated one of my kidneys first but he rejected it after a short period

Back on dialises for another year. Suzanne then donated one after she had Lauren.

This was succesful and lasted 24 years of course during that period he had many surgerys for related complications.

Just last year the kidney suzi gave played out and back on dialisis. My daughter tested and was a perfect match. She donated last year and He is probably healther now than ever.  We all thank God for being with us.

Has I said earlier I did not want people filling bad for us because we are a truly blessed family.

The time in and out of hospitals as shown me that there are a lot of people with worese problems and a lot of them do not have the support of a loving family  like we had.  And the only reason I added this is because I wanted everyone to know how  much I appreciate the loving family I am surronded with.

No matter where you go, there you are!

I am not a religious guy but i believe in one fact : love of people can do wonderful things.

Seing 3 people giving a kidney to the same member of your family to save him is the noblest gest which can be done i think. I am sorry but expressing feelings in a non native-language is very difficult but i mean that giving a part of your body to save a loved brother/son, it is seriously beautiful.

I wish with all my heart that he will be in perfect health after this so both you and him can enjoy each other company for a long period of time. You all deserve this.

On top of that i was pleased to read the interview. Thank you for the time you did spend both you and fiddlerman, and i hope that we will ear more of you soon !

Thanks for taking the time and sharing your story LB. You have a blessed and amazing family and am sure you know it! I can feel the love you have for them in your words, and am sure, they feel the same. There is really nothing more important than family, giving love to those around us is the key to a happy life!
Again, thanks for sharing!
