I have a galaxy pad, is that the same as your android phone? If so, and I can remember the passcode, it has been a few years since I have used it, I will give it a try. Not sure if it would be the same as a small screen phone. Maybe, I still have my old android phone and the battery will still charge. If it will, I can just connect to my WiFi, right? I don't need to have it with any cell service, correct? I switch to iPhone because that phone had issues with RoadRunner email, which is what we had at the time.

Testing a shoutout to ABitRusty

@ABitRusty If the member who you are shouting out to has not changed the username originally signed on with, you can type that name with the @and do the shoutout. If a member has changed the username to a display name like you and I did, I started as Cid, and the new display name is typed, Mouse for me, the shoutout will not work.

But if I type the @ and your original username, not ABitRusty, it will work. So if you know the original username of a member who has changed to a display name, use the original username and your shoutout will work.

I hope this helps others who do not understand shoutouts, has androids, etc. Sometimes constantly quoting an entire long quote in a topic thread makes for a lot of scrolling. That has to make it difficult for those using small screens. Plus, quoting is not letting the person being quoted know that you have replied directly to her or him when logging in to the forum like a shoutout does,

Since the quote does not alert the person like a shoutout does, if the quote would be long, maybe just start with,

DisplayName (Enter display name), saw your reply above (or mention the post number). Then continue with your reply. 

The DisplayName could even be bolded. I think that would show up better.

You could add the @in the front. If it does not work as a shoutout, it will show up as @DisplayName. 

The bolded display name would show up easily. You could change the text color also.

Just another solution for those using an android or other device that does use workable dropdown options for a shoutout. This would solve the issue of the underscore and spaces in some display names. They would not get the notification that you were calling to them, but when they visit the topic thread, the bold texted display name will be visible to them among the other replies.

You could also add a message to the chat to alert the member, "Hey, DisplayName, I just replied to your post in the .... section." Eventually, it would be scrolled lutnof site, but if the member visits before then, they could possibly see the notice.

Hope these options help others with this issue.
