I was wondering if anyone else is finding the forum is working slow. It seems to take a long time for it to load the Pinterest, Email, Facebook, etc. And that seems to be what causing the site to load, refresh or save new posts, but I could be wrong. That seems to be what is missing while it is waiting around.

I have closed it down. Then when I try to open it again, it seems to take a long time.

Anyone notice it, or is it just as my end. I have been noticing it for a few days. It is not consistent, but it slow often enough to ask.

I don't think it's just the forum.

Thought it just might be my old laptop, but yes - everything slower

But, like right now - not having any issues on the forum.

Not sure if things are slow at certain times of the day, or not.

I've been having issues with YT videos, even outside the forum - taking forever, sign in msg, etc...

To be honest it loads faster at the moment than my 12 gauge, used to be slow but for me its now OK. But my internet speed is now very fast were it was once slow, dont know what the ping is on this site unfortunately but I believe that there are sites that test this out for free.

Exactly, That is the weird thing, @elcbk. It is fine now for me, too. But most often, it is very slow. Strange. Could be just some busy times.

The issue is not my server, rather how little space that I have left on the server. I'll try increasing storage and see if that corrects the issue. Thanks for all of your feedback.

Think I asked this once before... is there a difference in server storage between displaying only text (as the link to YouTube) vs the video link running in a post?

I'm still using the same 'insert/edit link' box for both ways.

...yep, I'm pretty cyber-illiterate. 🥴

I'd rather not blindly link to a YouTube video from text, but I'll redo all my posts (or delete) if it helps.

I have a solution for wanting to see text for the link. I have a problem with the posts with a lot of YouTube links because they do load slower, at least for me, and it causes a lot of scrolling. The scrolling takes a long time to reload each time because there are a lot video reloads and it takes a long time to scroll down. I stay away from posts with multiple links in one post, or a bunch in a topic. But, I do understand you wanting to see text.

If you use the link in the text box options, insert the link where it is to be inserted, then in the display area, delete the beginning, up to where it says youtube, you can see it in my test post. I have one with the entire link above it, and that videois there. Below it it you can see the YouTube text, minus the beginning of the link. It keeps that video preview or whatever it is from filling the text box. I generally insert descriptive text so I know what the video is about, but, I can understand your issue with not seeing the link itself.

Hope you find this helpful, 😁. By the way, I don't know Fiddlerman's thought, but I would not edit all of your posts. Good grief, girl! Play your fiddle and fiddle-iola.

This above reply is in error. I misread ELCBK's reply, 😂😂😂. To make the thread be smooth, I left it in.

@Mouse -

Very interesting!

But, said I'd rather 'not' use text-only links for videos.

I know photos use more storage than text, but even when I copy/paste a photo 'link' (like to a GIF) - the image shows in the post, not the URL.  So, when I paste the YT video URL where it says "text to display" - isn't it similar when the cover image shows in the submitted post, instead of the URL text?

Is this a bad thing?

An image gives me a ton of info, whether I recognize the type of video, the people, the context... helps me decide if I wish to watch (or not).  A text-only title doesn't usually feel like much more than if I see 'link here'... even with some explanation, still takes more to think about than seeing a video cover photo (for me).

It's less distracting watching a YT video in a forum post, especially if it's supporting other info related in a post - AND, it gets my attention.

I've run across some YT video cover images on 'The Session' that (when I click to play) can say "go to YouTube to view", so I am forced to click on the video icon "Watch on YouTube".  Could it be the best of both worlds (see the cover image, but have to open in YouTube)?  ...not sure if it's a feature that must be initiated by the person who uploads the video to YT, or not.

@ELCBK I have no idea. I just use text because, then I have shorter posts. I realized a short while ago that using the text eliminates the large video preview, which, for me, is not desirable, but that is me as a member, nothing to do with admin, 😂.

By the way, actually, when links are posted, a descriptions is supposed to be included. I will try to do better with that. 🥴

I was just commenting because you were wondering about storage and changing your posts. This is Fiddlerman's territory. I don't know about the storage, etc. I am sure he will figure it out.
