I would like to make a request, please. When forum admins are contacted about forum issues, please include all information.
1. All links the issue refers to, also text describing where it is in case the links do not work. Page and post numbers within that topic, also.
2. Use member display names. Some members have the same real first name. Example of the issue. One member is using a display name that is not his real name, but we know the real first name. The other member is using his real name as the display name. So, when referring to the one using a different display name by that member's real name instead of his chosen display name, guess what member I am looking for? The member using the real name as the display name, because that is his display name. Forum posts show the display name, not real name. I was searching for a problem post. I spent a good deal of time going up and down a topic looking for a post by the member using the real name as a display name, because that is the display name. Please refer to members by their display names.
Let me explain. An issue was reported to me. It started by reporting some posts with issues in their own topic thread. Another member mentioned to this member that he has the same issue. The member originally reporting it to me started by using the other member's display name as he contacted her, but when describing the issue, used this member's real name as to what the issue was.
Well, the member's real name was another member's display name (and I think it was the real name). I kept looking in that topic for a post with the display name given in the text of the PM about the issue. After a long time of looking, I don't give up, it dawned on me that the member reporting the issue to me in the PM was not talking about the member who started the topic and a member who replied to it. The person who PM'd me was talking about the same member, but used both the display name and real name when reporting the issue. Sound confusing? Good, 😂😂😂 Well, that is what it was for me for quite a while. Please use display names always.
3. Please explain each issue clearly. It will save a lot of time sorting it out or trying to figure out how to fix it.
Being cryptic when reporting an issue or requesting help from anyone on the forum does not make providing help easy. Screenshots are always helpful. If there is more than one issue, report them all clearly, with links, page, and post numbers. Please take the time to be clear with the issue so the time needed to find the issue is not as long.
I do my best to decipher what the issue is, and it took quite a while to find them today.
Thank you very much for understanding. I am not complaining, just trying to streamline the process of finding the issues. Thank you, again.
