I got back from vacation at around 1 am Wednesday, May 31. Later in the afternoon, I took down my viola. I had been gone a week. I just started playing, and as a week earlier, it seemed to go pretty well.

I put in, what I think, are double stops, into a song. I was playing an open second string with the main string where I thought it would be neat to have that lower sounding open string. It was pretty good. Clunky. Did not do this in lessons, so just figuring it out. I had a problem stopping and switching back to one string, but I will figure it out.

This morning I got out my cello. I was very surprised. The Obligato strings held their tune all week. Nice! I did my Myfanwy, the Bourrée, and added Amazing Grace.

I had been doing Amazing Grace on my viola and violin. I have never done it on my cello. I like it.

I used my Voice Memo app and recorded Amazing Grace and Myfanwy. I could hear improvement in the Myfanwy. I recorded Amazing Grace twice and could hear improvement when I recorded t the second time later in my session.

@Mouse  Your Amazing Grace & Myfanwy sound great!  I agree with you, I think the Obligato strings suit your cello well.  Thanks for sharing your playing smile

Thanks, @SharonC, I am glad that it is not just that I want the Obligatos to sound good on my cello. I really like them. They rarely need tuning, which is a surprise to me.

I just finished working on my Bourrée and Myfanwy.

I added the next section to the Bourrée; I added nothing to Myfanwy. The little section of shifting in the Bourrée is enough new stuff added.

I am watching my bowing because I am getting some odd sounds, like the string have broken wire, But that is not the issue, it is just that twang sound you get. I cannot figure out what I am doing. I am not looking for videos to show bowing. I just have to figure it out,

There is also a part in the Bourrée, the new part with the little bit of shifting, that I run out of bow, so I was trying to figure that out. That is one of the areas with the odd sound, too. When I go from the E on the A string and then the A on the D string followed by the G# on the D string, I am weak, run out of bow, and have the bad sound. I am trying to bow slower so that I do not run out of bow, and to end closer to the tip with the nite before the E string. More notes to be added to my sheet music.

Now that E on the A is a slight shift. The A on the D is a shift on the D and is directly across from the E. It is so awkward for me to do that. My 4th finger is very weak and is not going to get strong, maybe I should change up the fingering to suit my abilities. I am not a spring chicken and it is what it is.

Note to self, need to make another copy of the Bourrée, before I started making it up. Some of the early notes I no longer, need but I have to add different notes. It is too messy.

Strange how a blister on the palm of your bowing hand affects the playing. Finally, had to just stop.

I was weeding around my hibiscus plant, wearing gardening glove, and very quickly felt a large blister form on my palm. I ignored it, then I felt it burst. Did not take long for either to happen. Very very sore, but should heal quickly.

In the process of finding a home for some knitting machines that I was gifted. Found someone who will give them a good home. We are meeting up early July. Until then, my cello playing area has disappeared, as the machines and their accessories are stacked there. There really is no other place in my house that I can play my cello and have room. So, until then, my cello is resting. But, I am pleased I found a home for the machines, where they will be lovingly used. 😔😁

Get this. I have not been able to do my cello for a while due to room issues, I have missed her. So, yesterday I sat in the chair BESIDE her, I keep the chair beside her along the wall,  and took the bow and fingered the fingerboard and played that way, The chair was on the left side, so that worked a little. LOL I couldn't do it for long, and it wasn't very good, but gave me a little time with my cello.

Well, two more days and then I will have my cello space back! I do strum the strings every time I walk by. Sounds like the C string might be getting a little flat, expected, but oddly, the other strings are not that noticeable right now.

It will still be a little while before I can do my viola and violin, but it won't be long before I can get reacquainted with my cello. Don't ask.

The knitting machines will be picked and and on their way to their new home in a couple of days. The person I am giving them to is going to stay a little while and give me a few lessons on how to do a few things that I have questions about. Neat. Nobody I know around here does machine knitting, that I know of. If I had been thinking more quickly when I bought the machine from the lady just on the outskirts of the nearby city, about 12 mikes away, I would have asked her if she knew of anyone else around here that did machine knitting. I did not think of it. I was fascinated by her story and her mindset. Oh well. I sure miss the local Pennysaver. The internet really sucks for anything specifically local.

But, I will be able to get back to Myfanwy!

I have a couple of songs I would like to do on my cello, viola or violin. I think they are 60's songs. I have to figure out how I will do them. It will be cello first. It will be a little while because I am not ready for them on my cello yet. I am doing Myfanwy and the Bourrée, so I have time to figure it out.

I am seeing light more an more as the days click by and I get closer to getting my cello area back. I am pleased that I found a good home for the knitting machines, though.

Later.

I have my cello space back. I gave the knitting machines away today. A lovely lady and her son drove 4.5 hours to get to my house. The machines are now with a machine knitter who really loves machine knitting and does lovely work! I am very happy.

It looks so nice with my cello area back. Tomorrow I will do my cello!

@ABitRusty Thanks. I love that! You do realize, it is not it own room. The livingroom is a little long. There is a recliner about midway. I have an area behind the recliner that works really nice. It is by the front door. That is where all thr machines and acessories. were waiting for their new owner.

There was a little more added to this pile as I found more items that did not go to my machines, or that I already had. It is nice to have my "cellotorium" again.

Well, I just finished playing my cello in my cellotorium, as ABitRusty referred to it as. So  great to have that area back. Still working on Myfanwy and the Bourrée.

Nice you were able to clear your space & get back to your cello!

I know it feels good to let go of things we don't need/use any more.

I've asked for help to clear many things out of our house & workshop, since I've been laid up.  Kevin & I finally started getting this help a couple weeks ago (still in progress). 🤗  Part of the price/perks... I have to keep ALL 7 Grandkids busy - at one time (I'm used to 2, sometimes 3). dazed

@ELCBK I needed to make sure they all went to a good place. My aunt took very good care of the machines and these particular ones, like almost all knitting machines, are no longer made. These particular ones, are no longer made. The ones I have are no longer made now either. So,  good home was necessary. My cousin was very pleased when Intexted him that I found a place for everything I was not keeping.

Oh, I would love to have my granddaughters here. I miss them terribly. My older daughter and her husband are visiting out there right now. We won't be out there again until next spring. That is, unless my daughter calls and asks if we can catch a flight out to watch the kids. I told her we can do that at any time. I hope she calls.

It was good to play my cello. Unfortunately, I have a sore back today, so my cello is resting. I gave it a good workout yesterday. 😁

So, I ordered a Krentz Wolf Eliminator/Modulator yesterday. I have been trying to do it with the one it came with. It is on a string. Just was not able to get it right. I had a Krentz on the Goronok that I gave away. When I ordered that and attached it to the frint of that cello, worked like a charm. I am hoping for the same result. Should have it in a couple of days.

@ABitRusty Funny!

I don't see electronic devices being purchased for my cello any time soon.

I did, however, order a ukulele from Fiddlershop a yesterday or the day before. I am supposed to get it tomorrow, according to tracking. I doubt it, though. It just left Memphis and has to get to the distribution center for our area in time to get loaded on a truck there. That didn't happen so quickly with something I ordered from GA that went to Memphis in the way up. It was a couple days after it left Memphis. That would put it as the first delivery date. I never believe FedEx when they say a delivery date was moved up. Nah, never happens.

Anyway, my plan is to be able to take that outside when I want to putter. Taking my cello, viola or violin outside is not really that easy. I need my sheet music, music stand, chair, bow etc. Plus, it is hot in the sun, not much shade. I also can take it when we visit our granddaughters, and have some fun. But, mostly, after I figure out the chords and strums, I can make myself a little mock backing tracks or click tracks with strums for the beat count for when I play my cello, viola or violin.
