Well, Ms Blog, one of my concerns was alleviated today. I was afraid I would end out back on square one after all the progress I gained with your help. I was assured, by someone in the know, not to worry about it. That removed a lot of concern because your instruction has helped me immensely.

Ms Blog,
I am back, not full time, but I am back. I seem to have bowing issues. In watching what I was doing and feeling the motion, I believe it has to do with the fact that I cannot get into a comfortable position in my chair and be able to bow while feeling secure or no pain. I will continue for short periods. At least I will be doing the fingering. I will have to ignore the weak bowing because that cannot be helped, right now. It is progress, though.

Ms Blog,
Yesterday was a no go. I am hoping for today. I do need to make a card for a dear friend who emailed me yesterday, who needs perking up. Card making and violin playing both require a bit of sitting, so we will see if I can do both, but the card has to be priority, this time.

Finished the card and did some violin. It did not go well. I think my strings all need changing. I wonder if they actually go bad when not played for over a month, on top of what was already played in them.
I am starting with repeating my second lesson plan, the last plan I created. It starts with a review of the first lesson, so, it seemed like a good idea.
Maybe it will go better the next time. I seem to have setup issues, also. I do not sit the same way. That is very frustrating. I will figure it out. It is different for everyone, so, what others use, really would most likely not be appropriate. I thought before that I needed a higher chinrest for one of my violins, and I might look into, hat. I want to use a lower shoulder rest, so the higher chinrest will make up for that.
Until next time ...

Ms Blog,
Well, less playing for now. I know my setup is way off and am working on that at the moment. I have a couple of ideas I am checking out. Such a never-ending circle. I love the Holstein Chinrest I have, but have not been able to get a good shoulder rest set up with it. I am hoping I will be able to keep using that chinrest and just adjust with a shoulder rest. We will see.
Chow.

Ms Blog,
Well, this morning I did my cello. I haven’t touched him in over 3 months. Strange, it was almost completely in tune. I just had to tweak the A string because it was a tad, not much, sharp.
It wasn’t too bad. I had forgotten a couple things, but they came back fairly quickly. I did do it a little too long, I could not help myself. I was a little sore, but did some walking around and loosened up. I will use a timer next time.

PT today, so no playing this morning. Makes me sit for too long and my leg gets stiff, sore and weak. Not a good combination for PT. Nope, not even going there!
I ordered a new chinrest and some strings from Fiddlerman end of last week. Cannot wait.

Ms Blog,
I changed my lesson songs. I am doing the etudes and then Bach's Minuet 1 in the Suzuki book. Instead of using the open E string, I am using the 4th finger on the A string, where applicable.
I find this minuet to be covering a lot of what I am trying to firm up before I try advancing myself. After I get this, I will select a piece that will strengthen my G use more. It may be a while because I do not want to rush it.
It will sound much better after I get my new set of strings for Old Nick.
