@Mouse First off, Happy Birthday and I hope you receive the cake of your dreams! 😊
I apologize for not posting sooner (but I’ve been dodging stormy weather, both literally and lifewise). I saw a while ago that you did a shout out for tips concerning the A and E strings, and I intended to throw in my 2 cents…
Do you ever practice the violin while standing up? If not, you may find this really helpful, particularly when playing the E string and when drawing longbows. (I know the standing can get tiresome as more of these birthdays roll around, but standing during at least part of your session can really help with form and technique.) In all my years of lessons, I never once had a lesson sitting down, and I naturally did all my practice sessions standing. The only time we ever sat down while playing was in long ensemble performances. Now, I sit for about half of my playing time, but I always feel more fluidity while standing. I hope that’s helpful.
Congratulations on being literate! Reading and using sheet music is an essential and valuable skill that you should embrace and take pride in! The random internet chatter of the day implies that all pieces must be memorized and some folks even enjoy dismissing sheet music as “the dots.” I just view that as envy from folks who haven’t made the effort to learn to read music well.
I love using sheet music when playing with the click track. It makes staying in sync intuitive and effortless. Of course your fingers will have internalized the piece by the time you’ve truly learned it, but the sheet music still frees you up to relax and focus on tone and dynamics while remembering to hit record, count ten seconds, start the click track, smile, play well, count ten seconds and then stop. The only music I actually fully memorize are the short fiddle tunes or songs that I play at jams or in festival campgrounds.
The recordings you post always sound great. I’m sure you’ll contribute something that sounds great for this project as well.
Cheers,
Unfretted.

Well, @Mouse, sounds like you just got one more day of youth. Enjoy it!
But wait… forgetting your own birthday? Did you just have your first senior moment? 😂😂😂
Sounds like you’re in a really good place. You enjoy playing music and you make the best of it. What more can any of us wish for?
If @Fiddlerman would just upgrade this forum software to the version that allows for digital transmission of food items, I’d gladly send you a slice of my (yes, award winning) chocolate cake.
Enjoy your bonus day and your birthday!
😊,
Unfretted
