Your Roland is a GREAT amp!
You have lots to play with there - more than some of the other Roland amps I've seen!
So, are you leaning toward busking, then?
Here's my Spark Amp & Effect List. I can turn on the Spark Mini (without the app), plug my Violin in & it's like I can switch to 4 completely different rigs... AND, maybe tomorrow I'll choose another 4 - $0!
I used my Spark Mini (with different patches) to record last February: for your Spring Party, my last share for your City or Boat Party, the Open Mic Night Party, and my last share in the Critter Party. This was while I still had my Violin strung CGDAE. Shortly thereafter I changed over to FCGDA... jeez, it really HAS been a while since I've recorded anything! 😬
I've heard the Spark Mini described as a practice amp, digital combo amp, or a 'modelling' amp. I used to have a 40 watt Spark, but sent it to my Brother to use - figure I can do enough hearing damage with the Mini. 🤭
I think it's WONDERFUL that playing with an amp keeps us both focused! I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with your Roland! 🤗
Thanks for helping to keep me motivated!

That's a pretty exhaustive list of effects, no doubt about it, no wonder you are experimenting so much it would take me years to go all through those, I particularly like the look of the fender reverb. And the noise gate as well.
Will have to have another look at the parties you mention, didn't know you were using those other tunings either, I had playing around with GDAD on my other fiddle, but I need new strings for it, they are almost rusty now, but its another expense. Everything adds up.
I actually had thought of busking, not for the money but just to be heard, I think if we admit it we all want people to listen, it's a sort of fulfilment. To be honest though with my experience just trying to record my playing I would be frightened of standing there and hitting wrong notes, especially these days when the first thing people do is whip out there phone and the next thing you are on you tube making mistakes lol, never know though just maybe......

Talk about exhausting... shopping for kids, Hubby - and a little for myself. (lol) 'Cyber Monday' killed me today!
Tried to get ready for it over the weekend, but I still spent all day researching & comparing laptop capabilities... whether or not it's even possible to do everything I want to do on a laptop!
What I need/want for DAW and video editing is a start, but I was drawing & painting up until 20 years ago - SharonC and ABitRusty rekindled my interest by sharing their music video-making experiences. I always wanted to get into digital illustration, and possibly step into animatics (animated storyboards) with music - which I think my eldest Granddaughter will love to learn with me. Making the transition from drawing/painting in the physical world to the virtual one is not going to be easy for me... kinda scary, like re-learning everything differently.
Oh well, can't be any worse than learning to play violin. 😉
I'm sure I'll get sidetracked for a while - all because I LOVE behind the scenes spoilers, sci-fi fantasy & cinematic magic! The temptation of learning to use 'Unreal Engine' is pretty irresistible - may have to start there! 🤗
So, besides violin & viola, looks like 2024 will be - 'My Year of Wrangling Keyboard Shortcuts'! 😁
Hmmm...
Sure, 15 minutes - oh yeah, sure. 🤨
Combining music with another media will still be fun.

Yeah, hope it doesn't take me as long as the fiddle has!!!
Actually, I'm really excited - maybe playing the fiddle will help make it easier for me to learn to split the keyboard commands, dial, stylus & touch pad workload between my hands. Still going to be a big jump for me to make it all feel 'natural'. Just gotta do it! 😬
I can't afford to spend much time on this right now, but have you visited William Faucher's YT Channel?
I realize there is a lot that is automated in 'Unreal Engine' to make it easier to use, but there are a few things I deem important enough (in any artistic image) to give extra attention to. One is lighting source & reflections, even shadows will show reflections within - I rarely use black, so this will be interesting... kinda like how we need to over-emphasize our fiddle playing with dynamics & careful phrasing.
Faucher has some great looking tutorials, especially for lighting in 'Unreal Engine'. I've watched a couple, a bit beyond 'baked' setting usage, but I LOVED he has a tutorial for "Lighting in Unreal Engine 5 for Beginners"!
...it's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas!

i have shared several in my blog... cant remember which is which or who...but the most important thing i think ...is to do the thing you want to do. or at least attempt it. whether this or music or daw or photography.. I know Ive scratched the surface of a very deep subject and I know what i had to try and learn and adjust and place..(lighting has to be placed and adjusted btw) and nothing seems very automated. There is a deafult sky and atmosphere when a world is generated but youll move past that.. other than the fact that there are 3d resources that can be pulled into and placed. thats an entirely different subject and skill.
Like I said..its fun..lots NUMEROUS.. resources..out there

Thanks! I was planning on going back over your blog.
Think all the available help is so wonderful - now just keeping an eye out for Santa!
Just about ready to dig into PreSonus... spending a little more time on backing, but still nothing I want to record, yet. Still having fun discovering/trying new things!
Wish I was an Octopus this time of year!

octopus... yeah i know. Im going about 4 days between fiddle right now and its for a very short period. just enough to hear some noise. lol. everyone has stuff though.. im just whining. thankful for whatever time..ill make it up later.
Ill add on the unreal topic that on their website they have really REALLY good documentation and when you install unreal you can load up some demo levels that walk you through some stuff to get started. kinda in a museum type way.

@ABitRusty -I'm pretty impressed with Unreal Engine's site... you have no idea how much I looked around to see if I could find where the catch was - why something so great was FREE! 🤣
Been looking at everything 'Blender' has to offer, too.
Charging royalties only on revenue over $1 million is an interesting business model that actually makes a lot of sense if you consider that it's mainly a video game engine and the video game industry is high-risk, high-reward.
If someone uses Unreal Engine for a product that flops, at least they haven't spent money on it up front, and that's a big incentive for game developers to use it for their projects. And that in turn increases the chances of producing a big hit that generates a lot of royalties.

also, As far as video they state this..
"...Under the standard EULA, there are no fees or royalties payable to Epic Games for creating and releasing linear content—that is, content which is viewed as a series of sequential frames (or as a single frame), rather than as an interactive experience. Linear content includes films, TV shows and commercials, videos, and still images."
This is very nice! hopefully will stay that way.

Thanks!
Felt better playing with the wider neck today, even played with my amp & sounded great - been quite a while since I've used an E string! The strings have the same spacing (between each string) as my 5-string, but the neck is wider than it needs to be at the nut. The positive result is the neck can sit in my left hand now, without my hand touching the E string!!!
Surprised I had to change out the D string to Rondo - both the A & D strings are playing MUCH stronger than my 1st violin. Can't believe I'm saying this, but practiced with the tourte mute last night because that D string was enough to go right through me! 😳
The bridge is curved nicer than my 5-string's is - MUCH easier to play the 'A' string!
The F is not sounding quite as nice as on my 5-string - but it might just need time to break in. ...1st time I've been able to compare 2 violins together!
Have to include a better photo of the pegbox & scroll - kinda like a cow nose up in your face (think someone fed it steroids). Looks TWICE as wide as my other Violin scroll, but not quite. All I can say is - why? 🤔... I could've been happy without a scroll. 😈 Luckily I got used to my Viola, it was heavy on the scroll end, too.
Going to have to find a sticker or cat toy to disguise it - maybe it will get bedazzled! 🤭
I'll see what can be tweaked, but no matter what - I LOVE how it plays! Will try to record something this weekend!

The chin rest is pretty flat & comfortable - houses the pre-amp inside (same one I have on my 5-string violin).
