@ABitRusty Just PM'd it to you, Thanks.

Actually, there are two time signatures and neither one is very common to me.

I haven't had much time to play. I am better, not under the weather right now, but we are rearranging a room so we can make it a spare room and put the queen bed back in that was in there years ago. We will have to get a new box spring and matress, but we save the bed frame.

I need to have it done in a couple months because we will have a couple of cute little visitors. I am also getting rid of things that were in there that we no longer use, mostly my knitting and sewing items, while I am at it.

We have a bunch of really nice material, yarns, sewing and knitting books, etc to bring in to a not for profit place about 15 miles away that sells them. They are paid by the pound for items they take in to sell to keep the items out of the trash. Pretty neat. They also have a knitting bee for kids to learn to knit. I think they have someone you can get sewing lessons from. I am going to check while we are there because I desperately need hands on teaching to make some slacks. I have been ever so close, but there are so many points on slacks that you have to get right. I am never able to get it right. This has been an ongoing issue for a few years. 🥴

Anyway, I was going to take my viola outside yesterday, but, surprisingly, it was really too hot and muggy! Wow. I guess that is a good thing? The neighbors were not home yesterday, so it was an ideal time, except they did text me last year and thanked me for the concert, 😂. They were out on their deck while I was on my deck playing. If I had known, I would have gone inside, 😂 It will be too hot today to go outside, plus we are supposed to get some nasty thunder storms. I think they will go around us. Might get some rain, but the thunder storms usually go north or south of us.

No offence, but professional food photography is a specialism!

I'm sure it tasted nice, though.

No offense taken. Not a professional here. I also emailed the photo to myself to get a low resolution version to post. It was very good.

I have trouble playing with my metronome. It is that pyramid shaped one with the  swinging arm. I do not like the other kind, snd they are even harder, ear, one on the tuner, etc. This pyramid one is the best for me, but I do have an issue,

I have trouble using this snd learning a song, ie fingering, bowing, etc. So, I was thinking that maybe I should learn how to play it first, as close to the timing as I can get, snd then add the metronome to clear up the timing?

Thoughts, anyone, no video links, please. Not going to watch them. I am after personal experience. Thanks.

Yes. Learn the piece slowly without the metronome, then play it slowly with the metronome. Speed up with or without, aiming to be able to play with at full speed eventually.

@Gordon Shumway Thank you ever so much. I wasn't sure if it was best to struggle with it all at once. I am so freakin stuck on doing things in order, or the order that I think they should be done. Like there is the  "order" police hanging around my door listening to if I am using my metronome or not. 👮🏻🚓 I need to learn to not be so strict on order of things all time.

Hey, @stringy Alf answered my question about metronomes, so I am going to learn that other piece I want to do for your lament party good enough so I can do it with the metronome before I submit it. It might make it smoother, I know I speed up in spots because 8th and shorter notes make me do that. It will be a little while.

ABitRuster helped me understand the other questions I had about it. Nope, not telling you what I am working on.

I, again, played my viola with the  on Musica and noticed a big difference. I feel it is more secure and not wiggling around. But, it does not feel like it is demented to my shoulder. I am thinking that this will help removed some of the tension in my ledt hand snd wrist. Time will tell.

I played Ashokan Farewell. I this was the best I ever did it. I then played some of mynpther usuals. All in all, I was pleased.

Bummer. I played my viola today, and my shoulder was sore in the area of the Bon Musica!

My violin was better when I switched, so I practiced the other song for String's lamenting party. I have to break it into sections. I really want to get this right.

I should probably let my left shoulder rest tomorrow. It isn't broken or sprained or anything, it just does not like my viola, like I do.

A viola plus a Bon Musica is quite a heavy combination. Have you tried a gel rest to see if that suits you?

Yes, I did. It didn't give the viola enough stability and rise at the chest end. That is the issue with mos of the violin shoulder rests, too.

But, the violin is smaller and lighter, so I can make do, just gets wonky if I try any vibrato, which I really don't know exactly how to do it on a violin, so not a big deal. I lose some stability if I try to shift. I have enough trouble with first position, so I am not shifting at the moment, so not an issue for that yet.

But, the viola is heavier and larger, even though just a 15.5 inch size. Foam just gets so warm, no airflow.

Yesterday, I was going through all my violin and viola cases. I found the fiddle that I purchased quite a few years ago for a retired fiddler about 2.5 hours away. We mostly went because it is a nice drive.

It was the fiddle that came with an old bow that I like. It is an old tourte style violin bow. I really like it, for specific songs, and my Parker Fiddle likes it. It goes well with this old fiddle, too. I like the look of this fiddle. You can see it was used a lot!

Anywho, the bridge is flatter than my other violins. Hopefully, going back and forth with the different bridges will not be an issue. I think it is because it was always used for fiddle music? Would that make those fast bow crossings in a lot of fiddle songs be easier?

I have it hanging where a 15 inch viola was. We only got that viola at the pawn shop, before this fiddle, because my husband thought it was cute. It was an ornament. I tried to get it to sound good, but a cheap15 inch viola is going to sound like a cheap 15 inch viola, 😂. In the end, I decided to experiment with violin strings on it; hey, why not?

Well, where that viola hung, the fiddle now hangs.

Tonight I played it a little more. I have to get one of my higher chin rests on it, It has the one that was in it when I bought it, yet. Not really the kind I use.

It was fun.

I seem to have lost my violin tuner. I was using it in a different violin yesterday, and it was not on it when I went to put it on the Lord Wilton. Bummer. My ears are just not good enough to know when the strings are tined, and to determine if I am on the mark or flat or sharp. I know it will show up because it cannot walk. I must have taken it off that violin and placed it somewhere. I know it was really busy here yesterday, and I probably got distracted or called away before I could reattach it to the Lord.

I probably had it in my hand and set it down. Since I don't have a large two-story house, it will be spotted.

As a result of my missing violin tuner, my playing the violin today was not good. I did play around with bowing and was able to pay more attention to that because I knew I was not going to sound all that good. 😂

You'll find it when you're looking for something else--that's what happens to me smile

When I switched to an iphone last year, I discovered the tuner app I used on my old phone isn’t available anymore.  My teacher has used the Pano Tuner app for years (available at both Apple & Google Store), so I started using it.  Works well--I don’t have any problems with it.

My problem is that I need to have it on all the time. I get lost on the fingerboard and can never find my way back. It is not due to constant dependency. I just cannot tell flat, on target and sharp. I have tried over and over and it just frustrates me and I quit. I don't mention it here much because I am usually told to not use it, again it gets hung up. Some people need assistance from available tools. It is frustrating.

Anyway, because I need it attached to the end of my violin, and on, an app would not work. I need a charged phone for those videos of my granddaughters when they are posted,😁. I actually did have an app quite a while ago, shortly after I got my violin, and thats is when I found that it does not work for my needs.

I will find it. If I don't I will get another. We are moving things around right now to make a spare craft room into a spare bedroom, so my playing time is limited. I think I might know where it is, as a matter of fact! I need to go look.

Thanks, SharonC.
