Strings

@ELCBK  has a thread here in which she’s been talking about strings, primarily the A strings (also contains links to other string discussion threads):

https://fiddlerman.com/forum/t.....-string-1/

I thought I’d list out what I’m using on my instruments.

August Kohr HC602 (what I refer to as my “other” violin, or “August Kohr" – never named this one).

For G, D, A – Obligato; for E string – Jargar (regular).  Before I started using Obligatos on this violin, I was using Infeld Red – they were pretty good, but I like the Obligatos better.

Glasser Carbon Fiber (Duke) – Larsen.  When I bought this violin used, it had Dominants on it—did not like them at all on this instrument.  I like it with the Larsens.

Fiddlerman Master Viola 14” (Thorin) – Dominants Viola (short).  These have been good – but I plan on trying some other strings on it.

Holstein Premium Bench Lord Wilton (Theo) – Peter Infeld (PI), and sometimes Perpetual Cadenzas.  I like both these sets, leaning more toward the PI (what I have on there now).  The Cadenzas are a little sweeter, softer, whereas the PI are a bit more direct.

Characterize people by their actions and you will never be fooled by their words.
