Got an afternoon practice in today, 3:10pm local, and it went fairly well. Got in another hour and ten minutes playing Essential Elements 119-124 Skill G Maj, D String Etudes, Cluck Hen, Dawning of the Day, Song from the Secret Garden, Amazing Grace, Sounds of Silence, Ashokan Farewell, Danny Boy, Fiddlers Green, Skye Boat Song, Lavender Blue, Misty Mtn, and Slan Le Maigh.

The twenty minutes or so devoted to the etudes and Essential Elements Skill sets still seems to helping. Some of the fingering, especially in some of later etudes is still tying up my fingers! lol

I have given up Caislean An Oir for the time being as I can't "feel" the tune nor do my fingers obey the printed page! lol Maybe after I get better, I will come back to it.

@Mouse - They do walk away, just not on the straight and narrow, sometimes with two left feet, and out of cadence!

Missed my practice session yesterday as I had medical stuff to attend to, which included a total of 2 1/2 hours travel time!

Got my hour in today, with a slightly modified repertoire. A little more time on the Essential Elements 119-124 Skill GMaj. and the D String Etudes. Followed by Cluck Old Hen, Dawning of the Day, Ashokan Farewell, Danny Boy, Fiddlers Green, Skye Boat Song, Lavender Blue, Misty Mtn, Slan Le Maigh. And I dropped off Song from a Secret Garden, Amazing Grace, and Sounds of Silence.

All in all, was a decent practice session for me.

That was a darn decent practice session, JohnG. I have not been able to do anything today. Getting ready for my daughter. I might be able to do some practicing in about an hour.

@Mouse - Hope you got that practice in, but if not, hope you got your prep in just so you can enjoy the time with your daughter!

Another hour and ten minutes, even though I was planning on just an hour, but time got away from me again. But I'm not complaining, 'cause it means I'm still enjoying this.

Essential Elements 119-124 Skill GMaj, D String Etudes of Pierre, Cluck Old Hen, Dawning of the Day, Song from a Secret Garden, Amazing Grace, Sounds of Silence, Ashokan Farewell, Danny Boy, Fiddlers Green, Skye Boat Song, Lavender Blue, Misty Mtn,Slan Le Maigh, scales, and even a little improv.

@Mouse - Glad you could get all three in!

"Only" did an hour today. Just not that comfortable with my technique and results. Gave up in disgust. Hopefully will be better tomorrow!

Slightly shorter repertoire again, playing Essential Elements 119-124 Skill GMaj, DString Etudes, Cluck Old Hen, Dawning of Day, Raglan Road, Danny Boy, Fiddlers Green, Skye Boat Song, Lavender Blue, Misty Mtn, Slan Le Maigh.

Hey, @JohnG, they can run but cannot hide. By what the time stamps were, I had just logged off a few minutes before. Go figure.

I didn't get any practice in today, yet. I am going to later.

Well, I took two days off and interestingly enough, rather than feel compelled to continue to let it slide, I was anxious to play again today. AND I set a personal record with an hour and twenty minutes of quality time. Put a full half hour in on the etudes and glad I did.

Played the full set of Essential Elements 119-124 Skill GMaj, D String Etudes of Pierre, Cluck Old Hen, Dawning of the Day, Song from a Secret Garden, Amazing Grace, Sounds of Silence, Ashokan Farewell, Danny Boy, Fiddlers Green, Skye Boat Song, Lavender Blue, Misty Mtn,Slan Le Maigh, scales, and a little improv.

I now have a new Wolf Forte Secondo Viola shoulder rest on order from Fiddlerman.

Now just have to wait on US Postal Service! beg

Got another hour in tonight!!!! Mostly miscellaneous Essential Elements tunes for sight-reading practice and then I found Simple Gifts (EE192), which I have fallen in love with, and then a little Slan Le Maigh.

It was just plain fun!

JohnG,

I saw a video of Jay Unger and Molly Mason playing simple gifts its a pretty song. Thank you for reminding me of it. I need to add it to my list of tunes to learn.

Thanks,

Mark

And, another hour and 10 minutes. Played the full set (substituting Simple Gifts for Lavender Blue) of Essential Elements 119-124 Skill G Maj, D String Etudes of Pierre, Cluck Old Hen, Dawning of the Day, Song from a Secret Garden, Amazing Grace, Sounds of Silence, Ashokan Farewell, Danny Boy, Fiddlers Green, Skye Boat Song, Simple Gifts, Misty Mtn, Slan Le Maigh, scales, and a little improv.

If no one beats me to it @ELCBK, I'll try to perfect Simple Gifts enough to share in new party.

I forgot about "Simple Gifts". I used to do that on my cello.

I am logging in and checking on the site to see if there are any issues, or looking in as a guest right now. Will be back to participating, probably in a couple months, sooner if I am lucky. I might pop a reply in here and there, but that will be about it. 😁 Nothing serious.

Not ignoring you or your fun blog.
