Same problem, two days without practice, same repertoire as last time. Did go a little better and got an hour and ten minutes in. Had an excuse for one of the days, our 53rd wedding anniversary which we spent together. The other day, I was just slothful! lol

Grats on 53 years of marriage! That's a very good excuse to miss practice.

Yes, Congrats John. That is quite the accomplishment. :)

@Mark, @ELCBK, and @Fiddlerman, thank you! Over half a century (funny that it sounds worse that way) of marital ups and downs, but we still love, respect, and like each other. Two kids, nine grandkids, and one great-grandchild (whom we haven't met yet! cry).

Another hour and ten minutes tonight after yet another skipped day. I really have to get back on schedule. Same repertoire as last session, except skipped the The Legend of Zelda. I really will have to get used to click track playing and I don't feel this one is a good one for me to start with.

On a different subject, I've gone back to the Kun shoulder rest as I can't get the other one to feel right.

Abbreviated practice today. We went to my brother-in-law and his wife's house and took the viola with and practiced alone in a closed room so didn't do etude work but all the usual tunes. Got in about 50 minutes and no one complained from the other room!

"No one complained", LOL,
That is definitely a great sign!!! Next step is that they join you in that room. 😁
Good job!

@Fiddlerman, Thanks! My sister-in-law (who has watched a couple of my videos) even remarked to my wife, "He's improving, isn't he?". So not a bad day.

Tonight was an hour of all the usual suspects, including the etudes. Some tunes were good, some mediocre, but I'm still enjoying it!

@Fiddlerman, I plan on enjoying it for a long time.

I was only going to practice for half an hour tonight, because it was late, 10:20pm CDT, but it felt so good it went on for an hour and ten minutes. Played the usual tunes, not the etudes, and added Greensleeves. My first attempt at a B♭ major (or is it G minor?) tune. A little difficult, but not impossible.

Hey, @JohnG, almost 20 pages! I am very impressed! I will be starting up again, pretty soon. I was going to get one off the wall yesterday, but the PT session was pretty intense and then Jer and I walked around a lot, switching from walker to cane. Fingers crossed for this afternoon.

It was nice to read that your sister-in-law has noticed your improvement, as we all have! I have not been commenting, or logging in a lot, but I have been keeping up and reading your inspiring blog. I hope to get my Ms Blog going again. 😁😊

Keep up the good work, my friend!

@Mouse, thanks! I'm looking forward to you participating again, both with your playing and your Ms Blog. Sounds like your PT was painful, but hopefully it is helping. Definitely not fun. I spent 3 weeks in a rehab facility 10 years ago after a motorcycle accident that left me with a broken ankle, shattered thumb, and 7 broken ribs and though you hate what they do to you, it all helps in the end. Glad you and Jer could spend some quality time outside today.

An hour and twenty minutes practice today with the two etudes, and all the other tunes from last time. Amazing Grace has turned into a fun exercise for me. First slow and smooth for tone and bowing technique and then fairly rapid for dexterity and because it's fun to do. Also added a brief, impromptu bridge between first finish and a restart. My wife even mentioned her approval! Although she always listens from the next room, her comments are few and far between, though mostly positive.

I'm a lucky guy, both for her and for finding this forum with its support.

A different approach tonight, having left it until late. It turned out to be half an hour, but only practicing a few tunes. Greensleeves, Ducks on the Mill Pond, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Amazing Grace (with some improv), Sound of Silence, and Simple Gifts.

I'm calling this my fun night practice and will probably do it again, soon.

Full hour again tonight playing all the usual suspects, including the etudes and improv segments in Amazing Grace, which is fun. It was a late night again (starting at 9:50pm local), so not the best results, but I can live with that. We celebrated a grandson's 13th birthday today with all four grandparents, his family, and my wife's brother and sister-in-law. Fun times.

I figure I can't be too bad, as my wife managed to fall asleep in the next room while I was practicing!

@Mouse, it WAS a good, and today was fine, too. Got an hour and 10 minutes in on the full repertoire, and practicing earlier (2:35pm local) seemed to have helped! Since I practiced every day this week, got my total hours for the week up to 7!
