Our Christmas tree this year. All the ornaments are handmade, most by my wife, some by my mother, and a couple even of mine. To keep this on topic (fretless stringed instruments), my viola can be seen hanging on the wall, in the corner.

@JohnG -

The tree is beautiful!

Where are all the miniature Violas? 🤔 I don't see any hanging on the tree.

Love your tree. My ornaments are all handmade, except for gifted ornaments from my sister and mother, kids and grandchildren. No ornaments bought in a store by us. I like it that way. Therefore, there are boxes of ornaments I no longer use. Might have to bring them to the Salvation Army some time in 2022. I don't have time to sort through them right now.

I should make a holiday outfit for Michael G, the cello. Right now he has a store bought hat and tie on. Kenny G is so jealous.

@Mark, thanks, it came out pretty good this year!

@ELCBK, love the ornament, and to be honest, I never thought of the need for one (or many) until now!

@Mouse, we too have a multitude of ornaments between those from both sets of parents, Hallmark ornaments (Starwars and Star Trek, plus other movies and themes), and others that we we purchased over the years. We tend to do a theme tree each year to at least rotate the use of some of them.

Today was finishing the Christmas cards. These were printed on heavy weight matte photo paper, front background from a sunset picture I took in California, decades ago, with photo manipulation for "sandy" areas. Palm trees also from a different photo I took. Creche and back logo found online. Thirty nine trimmed and folded. Tool shown is an origami folding creaser, much better than fingers or finger nails!

I did get an hour in tonight, playing only the first seven of the list plus my Amazing Grace and Wayfaring Stranger, but have decided Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire is a little beyond my capabilities right now. Tomorrow should be the last seven, and see how it goes.

In the meantime, here is where I practiced tonight! Amazing what 4k tv with video of fireplace can add to the ambiance.

Missed another night, but got in my hour tonight. Mostly the first seven (though only a very poor attempt at Chestnuts Roasting), and then a short practice on the last seven, followed by Amazing Grace and Wayfaring Stranger, both with improv, plus Simple Gifts. No earthshattering advancement, but a fun night.

Only half hour tonight, cleaning today for two of our son's kids (Sunday thru Thursday), wrapping some gifts. Practiced the first seven again but Chestnuts is probably not going to happen, but got in Amazing Grace and Wayfaring Stranger, both with improv.

An hour tonight, even with our son's two youngest boys playing Fortnite in the same room. Quick run throughs of all 13 Christmas tunes (Chestnuts is officially dropped). Then some Amazing Grace and Wayfaring Stranger followed by a bunch of older tunes.

After two nights off entertaining/feeding/taking care of two grandkids, got them home tonight and came home to get an hour's practice in of the same bunch of tunes as Monday, but also sounded out and then found music for Good King Wenceslas. Also did some improv/attempts to play other tunes by sounding them out.

It really felt good to play again and am looking forward to playing on Christmas with our son.

@stringy - We'll see!

Hour and a half tonight with the same 13 carols I've been practicing plus added a few more, Good King Wencelas, O Come, O Come Emmanual, O Come, All Ye Faithful, The Holly and the Ivy (the names of our two cats!), and The Coventry Carol. Of the new ones, The Conventry Carol came from musicedmagic.com and the others from ChristmasMusicSongs.com.

Hopefully I can get through tomorrow without boos and hisses from my family! lol

So, no duets on Christmas, the hostess (our daughter-in-law) scheduled game play to which I declined to participate and went in the basement to practice the Christmas tunes. Did get an hour in, but was disappointed that our son and I didn't play. Oh, well, maybe next year.

Tonight, I went through all the Christmas tunes again, and then went back to quickly go through almost all the non-Christmas tunes I was playing before, for an hour and ten minutes. Lots of mistakes, but mostly good times.

Sorry to hear that you didn't get the duets in this year John. But keep up the enthusiasm and the new tunes. 😁

@JohnG -

I was wondering what happened, because you didn't mention how the duets went.

Really too bad they couldn't make time for games AND music.

That Hostess must be a different Daughter-in-law than the wife of the Son you were looking forward to playing with - because I can't imagine your Son not wanting to play with you.

@ELCBK - Only one son and d-i-l, it was a solve a murder mystery game, and he wanted to play it, too. Overall it was a great day, got to see our son-in-law and three grandkids who we hadn't seen in two years. Lots of fun and catching up.

A big shout-out and thank you to @SharonC who took my Simple Gifts video and with her technical expertise and playing skill, added an accompaniment for a duet played at separate times and places.

Thank you Sharon!

If you are amenable, @SharonC, we can add this to the "Share a video" section.

@JohnG -

That was FABULOUS!

Why can't you post it in the 'Simple Gifts Party' thread?

It's now a different video!

@SharonC -

That was a really nice thing to do!

I LOVE IT! 🤗

@ELCBK - Thanks, and a wonderful idea to add to the original party, that I have now done.
