@JohnG curious how you verified mic was working.
The most likely issue is some kind of security setting for microphone access in android in my mind.
Another possibility is no way to turn up the gain enough so mic signal is picked up in app. If youre using some kind of usb adapter.. does the maker of the adapter have some kind of app on google play?
Have you checked on motorolas support website for the g7 searching for "external mic"?
i know these are kinda like the first thing a cable company ask you to do..."please power off unit and wait 10 minutes....blah blah."
hate your having such issues. wish i had a fix i could tell you.
shot in the dark here but on the off chance you havent seen this.
That's great news - nice you've stuck with it!
It makes me feel better, too - but I've recently been trying to practice at other times, instead of right before I should be going to sleep.
Think it's been causing, or at least adding to, the problem I've been having with sleep this past year.
Makes me feel good, but also engages my mind (too much) - the music will keep running through my head, still thinking about how I'm playing, what I want to work on, etc... after practice is finished. So, I end up too wide awake to sleep.
I've also been noticing I can't just listen to music before going to sleep, anymore - without thinking about 'why I like it', 'what makes it so interesting' (or not) - guess I've finally gotten what I wished for. ...whether a old Chinese proverb, or Aesop's fable - still a cautionary tale.
BUT, I wish I were a Frog.
...I'd eat everything that bugs me!
Dont know about that mic, but I used to use a Shure unidyne 3 mic for singing, it was an excellent mic, dont about recording though, and dont know if you can even get them anymore. I used an Alligator 30 watt session amp, a vox ac 30 and a roland cube, which all went through a mixing desk, didnt use them all at once obviously though lol, cant beat a vox for blues, and the Alligator was a great all rounder, cube is probably the best amp I hav ever had. In fact aome of the equipment I used to have would probably be worth quite a bit now., wem copy cat tape echo, jet phaser, and loads of other bits and pieces. my leccy guitar is quite rare now, an Ibanez les paul lawsuit, ont know what thats worth but the sound is incredible, well it would be when i get round to taking off the rusty strings, and getmy extension built so I can start playing again.
I played for half an hour; The Ash Grove and some old favorites, Green Green Grass of Home, Oh Shenandoah, Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Man of Constant Sorrow, House of the Rising Sun, Dark Island, and Wayfaring Stranger.
I've got Sandburg's American Songbag, but half these songs aren't even in it. What's the point of that? I feel like ditching it to free up some bookshelf space. All these songs should be online somewhere. Anyone got a URL? (we've had all the sites for every Scottish reel and jig and strathspey ever written, albeit lost in the bowels of the forum, so where are the folksong sites?)
@Gordon Shumway -
There's some links scattered throughout this list.
Here's another one to add to it - there are some tangos there, too.
And one of imslp's many categories is Spirituals - there are a couple of versions of Wayfaring Stranger, although I haven't looked at them yet.
Forgive me for temporarily highjacking your thread, John, but at least the thread-drift isn't too bad!
