I do Puff the Magic Dragon and Bamboo. I am a Peter Paul and Mary fan. But they are by ear and ai think I have some miss-notes.

They don't sound nearly as good as this Blowin in the Wind by JohnG, though.

@Mouse - Puff and Bamboo are couple of my favorites, also. However, I have not attempted those. And thanks for compliment on Blowing in the Wind!

Tonight was 40 minutes on The Ash Grove followed by a couple of run-throughs of Wayfaring Stranger, just for the fun of it. I hope to get a video done of The Ash Grove for @SharonC either tomorrow or Monday. All 40 minutes were with the click track and by memory.

Only 30 minutes tonight after fighting to get my mower out of the garage (the front door spring broke rendering the overhead door inoperable). Had to lift it over some of the 44 years collection of stuff. Then cutting the broadleaf flowers that have taken over our backyard for almost an hour.

Got in about 20 minutes on The Ash Grove and 10 minutes on Wayfaring Stranger. Now @SharonC will not be getting The Ash Grove from me before tomorrow or Tuesday.

Forty minutes today. Thirty minutes on The Ash Grove (and STILL not ready to record) and 10 minutes on Wayfaring Stranger after discovering that my memory left out the second phrase of the piece! Very annoying!

An hour tonight, a little over 50 minutes on The Ash Grove and the rest on Wayfaring Stranger.

The more I play The Ash Grove, the more things I hear that are wrong and not right on the beat. Frustrating, but glad to be doing this. The two measures right after the second ending are particularly troublesome, but I'm getting there!

Is there anything about the Ash Grove that Sharon or someone else can help you with?

@ELCBK - Thanks, I just need to practice that section more. Intonation, timing, and bow control coordination need work.

So, half an hour tonight on The Ash Grove playing primarily from the second ending and most of those times were only half through to the end. I think the intonation improved as a result. Also ended up with an additional 5 minuets on Wayfaring Stranger as both practice and to wind down my session.

I couldn't get myself to do more since today was another trip into Chicago, leaving at 5:45 am after getting to bed last night after midnight!

I've also ordered a camcorder with both internal mic and an input for an external mic, since I've never gotten my phone to handle it. If it works well, The Ash Grove will be it's first true test.

@JohnG -

I thought your videos recorded with your phone sounded great!

@ELCBK - Thanks, I like it a lot, but I have already gotten the Shure SM57 that I had hoped would have given my videos recorded on the phone even better. Since that failed to work out, I've decided to go this route. One of the first things I'll do is a simultaneous recording and see which sounds better.

I feel bad I never bothered to follow thru & learn more about the Soundbrenner Smartphone Mic.

https://fiddlerman.com/forum/r.....c/#p122700

🤔... think I went down a rabbit hole seeing some ear bud mics... now I'll have to find where I saved that info. 🙄

Anyway, hope you get everything the way you want, so you feel good about recording!

I've got a whole lot of mic hardware, but that's ok, as I've done live gigs. But phones and ipads do a good or better job of recording, and there's no way I'll waste money on a camera now.

@Gordon Shumway - If my phone would work like it should, I wouldn't have gone with a camcorder. That being said, it is going to be returned! First, I don't notice much difference in the 4k versus lower resolutions. More importantly, the .mp4 it produces apparently uses a little known codec making it unusable to import to a video editor and not readable by several playback apps AND Microsoft Edge. Looks like The Ash Grove will be recorded on the phone, which does a good job, just not as good as I had hoped with a better mic.

Only 25 minutes practice tonight. I left it until too late and am so frustrated with the camcorder, that my head just wasn't into it tonight. Twenty minutes on The Ash Grove and 5 on Wayfaring Stranger.

No practice again yesterday, just no energy to attempt playing. Only half an hour today, 11 attempts at recording The Ash Grove with one possible to offer for the Sharon's group project. Will continue trying to get a decent one tomorrow.

@JohnG  The first Group Project I did a few years ago (Amazing Grace), I can't tell you how many times attempts I made--more than 11, for sure smile And, I hadn't recorded a video of myself before, like ever.  You've got so many under your belt now--you're an old pro now!

I know you've got this thumbs-up

@SharonC - Thanks for the encouragement! I just hope I can do well with this.

Thirty-five minutes tonight, all but 5 minutes on Wayfaring Stranger, was playing and listening to my playing of The Ash Grove with no recording, but with all except for 3 or 4 iterations with the click track. Getting better (I think).

So, an HOUR tonight, with all but 5 minutes on The Ash Grove! And a little Wayfaring Stranger as a wind down. Gettin' close!

An hour and a half, mostly on The Ash Grove with video recording for inclusion in the group project plus a little wind down with Amazing Grace and Wayfaring Stranger. My submission of The Ash Grove has been made. Now to wait and see if it is acceptable.
