Forty fairly good minutes today playing only Wexford Carol with the new click-track.

With Pierre's comment in the 2022 Group Christmas Project, Wexford Carol:

When playing with the click tracks, please focus on the drums for the absolute best timing possible. Even that is weird, I know. LOL

I'm not sure I'll get the timing right enough to participate. Guess I'll wait and see.

Only half an hour tonight after a busy day, including grocery shopping and dinner out with our son's step-folks. Started off with Wexford Carol then miscellaneous tunes from the Hal Leonard book plus Simple Gifts. No major accomplishments, but at least didn't just blow off practicing.

I'm a star on TicToc! 😂 I posted the video I did on August 2 yesterday of The Wellerman and these are the latest stats.

A little different tonight, 40 minutes of Christmas Carols and a couple of run-throughs of Wexford Carol. Just didn't feel like an intensive night.

John, It doesn't have to be perfect. When all parts are mixed it'll be fine.

If you prefer, set a metronome at 46 and practice with that. If you make a recording with that and it lines up with the click track, it'll be fine. I don't you to feel that you can't handle it, I know that you can. 😁

After a 4 day sabbatical, half hour tonight starting with G maj scale, and then Dark Island, Wild Mountain Thyme, Wexford and The Wellerman. Had trouble getting motivated again, but glad I'm back.

After a 4 day sabbatical last week and then 1 day of practice, I'm finally back, after another 5 days off with 45 minutes playing Dark Island, Wild Mountain Thyme, Wexford Carol, G maj Scale, and The Wellerman again.

This time it was not apathy, but a 5 day stay in the hospital with atrial fibrillation. Didn't stop it but on a regimen to prepare for a possible electrical cardioversion which restores the heart rhythm using low-energy shocks to your heart. If it ain't one thing, it's another.

@JohnG -

Really hope you get through all this quickly & feel better soon!

🤔... I've often wondered if Kevin would be able to sneak in Edgar the next time I get stuck in the hospital - he'd have to try.

@Mark  and @ELCBK - Thank you for your thoughts and concern. And that's good to know, Mark. Not currently a panicking situation and the only reason I was there so long was to try some drug and dosage changes with extensive blood work monitoring. They also determined that there might be a bronchial tube blockage caused by one of the cancerous lymph nodes that may require a stent.

@stringy - No stent yet, going to see the lung doc in a week or so. And the latest stint in the hospital was just testing and drug change monitoring. Interesting side note, since I went originally for a regular visit, I drove and parked in their parking lot. I buy prepaid tickets which reduces the cost to about a 1/3 or $6.00 per day. I was there for 5 days and would have cost $30, but I was unsure about how to use them, so contacted the social worker who ended up getting me a fully prepaid ticket! Checked the non prepaid amount when leaving and it would have cost me $124 if paying with credit or debit card!!!!!!

Got 40 minutes tonight playing Dark Island, Wild Mountain Thyme, Wexford, and The Wellerman. Pretty reasonable night with almost adequate intonation. Looking forward to recording Wexford Carol for the party in the near future and adding a combo of Dark Island and Wild Mountain Thyme to my YouTube account. It's been too long since I added anything to it.

@JohnG I’m glad you’re back home now.  Good to hear that the social worker helped you out with the parking—seems like a lot of processes for things like that are so complicated—and they all cost money.

I’m praying for good results for you—

@SharonC - Thanks, it good to be back and I was really glad I checked with the hospital social worker about how to pay for the five days. I appreciate all the prayers and thoughts!

Took a couple of nights to get back in the swing of things but got in an easy 50 minutes tonight playing Wexford Carol only. Took the last portion of the session getting bowing in line with Pierre's requirements for up bow. I now have an annotated score! I was especially happy that I was able to practice after a fairly long day with family celebrating our son's oldest son's 16th birthday with his family and our daughter-in-law's family. Went to a Chinese restaurant (our daughter-in-law is Malaysian Chinese) and stuffed ourselves. Then went to her dad's and mother's place for cake, ice cream and a whole lot of fun and conversation. Our son and I, along with three of his sons went to Blick's for art supplies before joining the rest of the family.

Good times reigned!

Sounds like a GREAT time!

Good company, good food, good practice & DICK BLICK'S - wonderful! 🤗

I grew up with a Dick Blick's store in my hometown!  After I got out of the AF & back in Michigan, bought everything there - my airbrushes & clay for my pottery wheel, to silk painting supplies & fabric ink jet sheets for printers!

After another length lapse in practice, I got in TWO sessions today. The first for 40 minutes playing Wexford Carol for most of the time and then Amazing Grace and Improv. The second session for 30 minutes playing Wexford Carol mostly and also Dark Island, Wild Mountain Thyme, and The Wellerman. I'm now able to play through Wexford without the sheet music, for the most part. I should be able to record it in a few days and see if it is acceptable by @Fiddlerman.

As posted in the Breakroom. Wanted this included in my blog to better keep track of my progress.

I've been living with only one bow, a gifted Fiddlerman Carbon Fiber. The other one I had, plus the wood bow that came with my first viola, are now with our daughter and that first viola. I had planned on getting another Carbon Fiber bow as backup, but with the Black Friday sale going on at Fiddlerman, I have ordered the Fiddlerman Carbon Fiber Weave (in brown!), along with a t-shirt and Hill peg compound. It will be interesting to see what difference the new bow will make.

On sale, the Carbon Fiber Weave bow is a few cents cheaper than the normal price of the Carbon Fiber bow!

@JohnG -

I'm assuming you are getting the CF weave Viola bow?

Have you thought of trying a CF weave Violin bow?  I think it works really well on the Viola - much easier on the hand,wrist & fingers - and it's my backup bow to my Arcus.

@elcbk - Yes, it's a viola bow and I find that I often use the entire length and I'm big enough that I don't find it too large.

Forty minutes playing Wexford Carol mostly and also Dark Island, Wild Mountain Thyme, and The Wellerman. I'm afraid every practice is going to be a boring repetition of this until I get Wexford recorded, submitted, and accepted. But I'm still enjoying this!
