@Unfretted - Thanks! What you call determination, my wife says stubbornness! lol

I'm just glad we had an extra week so I could correct it.

@Mark - Thank you! Simple Gifts is one of my relaxing tunes. I still don't play it that well, but I enjoy it for the fun of it.

Forty minutes tonight playing 11 Christmas songs that I haven't recorded before to add to the Christmas party and then The Wellerman, Dark Island, and Wild Mountain Thyme.

Whoo hoo, 50 minutes today practicing and recording Wexford Carol (again). Hopefully good enough to add to the group project for Christmas. @Fiddlerman - It's been re-added to the group Dropbox with the same name as last time. Hope it doesn't cause confusion.....

It was no confusion at all. Players sent 1 to 8 versions and all I had to do is use the latest ones, or in many cases, all the parts from each player.

I ended up having 134 tracks to mix. 😁

It was less in the end. I was counting my multiple tracks that I had done.
I play all parts four times just to get a fuller sound on the sum....

Back to practicing after an unintentional week off. Got in an hour this afternoon playing 20 carols, including Wexford Carol, some improv, and Simple Gifts. Intent was not so much to learn, but to just have fun.

Last Friday, I went to doctor appointment, complained of shortness of breath and ended up in hospital after getting a CT scan. No further tests over the weekend, just in for observation with a heart monitor. After further tests had a cardioversion to attempt to eliminate a-fib which corrected it for about an hour only to have it return. No plans for the future other than some modifications to meds.

In the meantime, we're going to enjoy the holidays and I'm going to practice and enjoy the viola.

@JohnG -

I hope what everyone says is true, that a positive attitude changes everything - because you've sure got it.

Been wild & windy here today/tonight, too - stay warm!

@Mark - @ELCBK - @SharonC - Thanks all! Glad I was able to get home in time to wrap Christmas presents for tomorrow and really glad to reunite with my viola. Didn't realize how much I would miss it.

Hope everyone has a great holiday season and Merry Christmas to those who believe.

Once again got in an hour this evening playing 20 carols, including Wexford Carol, some improv, and Simple Gifts. I think playing familiar tunes is helping my intonation!

Got about a 40 minutes this evening playing 20 carols, including Wexford Carol, and Simple Gifts at our son's house. Don't know how much they heard since they were all in another room.

However, Christmas presents were awesome. Will keep me busy for years to come.

Hope everyone else who celebrates Christmas had as much fun as we did.

Only half an hour tonight trying out the Schott's Irish Folk Tune book, mostly on Castle Kelly, but also a few half-hearted attempts at some of the others! lol

@JohnG -

That's GREAT news - glad you had a wonderful Christmas!

I had to go back to my room to get comfortable after I video taped an hour and a half of gift opening!  I played some Christmas Music while the Kids were still having fun.

Then, Happy Birthday for one Grandson!  It was spur of the moment, so I waited to hear the 1st note the Kids sang to tell what key to play in - worked out great!

Looks interesting, if it were available for viola I'd consider buying it. I have a place in my heart for P.E.I. having read ALL of the Anne of Green Gables series!

@JohnG -

I don't usually bother looking for Viola books anymore (there aren't hardly any) - just used to transcribing in my head, but having 5 strings does give me the advantage of being able to learn a violin tune as written in treble clef. 😊

I do like Sailing Into Bethlehem Christmas Duets For Violin and Viola, by Myanna Harvey - have it ordered.

I need to do some book reviews!
