I'm working on the click track everyone. What I need to get this done is a lot of input on what speed would be appropriate for the majority. I would like to choose 120 but fear that this is too ambitious. The midi files are at 90 so that you guys can practice with them.

Suggestions please so that I can finalize the click tracks.thumbs-up

I tried a few different tempos just now, and 104 feels easy enough to manage with a bit of practice, but not *too* slow.  So that will be my suggestion.

I agree with Daniel. I think 100 - 105 is a dooable tempo.

I have no opinion...lol.  I know nothing about Tempo.  I leave this up to the experts.

But I did start my lessons today with my Violin Teacher.  So i am looking forward to, maybe, getting good enough by October to do Violin 1 (truly ambitious) or perhaps Violin 2.  It is a goal, not totaly unreachable, but I like to sets my sites high.

It would be helpful to the "play by ear" types [particularly those of us who are not good at keeping time] to match the midi files tempo...

The only way I can tell if I am getting the timing right is by listening to the midi.

Of course, I am still too scared of the music to have tried it yet, so don't listen to me!

I vote for not too fast.

I've tried out part 3 and it just sounded like I was playing random notes. tongue Will take a lot of practice no matter which part I do.

BTW, I listened to the first midi, which I assume is all the parts together, and it sounds like the background track to the song. Is there a plan to incorporate the melody/lyric line? Or am I misunderstanding that midi?

dunno

I'd like to see it remain as close to the original as possible, whatever tempo that may be.

As reasonably close to the original would be cool.  Just be warned.  Too fast and you'll get a lot of noobs, like me, only doing part 5 and in sections.  To slow and it'll just suck.  You took the poll on how many good players and how many noobs there are... you probably have a better idea of our skill levels than we do, lol.

If ya make it fast...we may just have to adapt and get better!

The original tempo is around 120, the midi is 90, how about 105? Right in-between smile

Can you re-post the midi at the selected tempo?

Hey, I am by no means an expert violinist, everyone but............ I was playing around with ghostbusters violin 1. With a little practice, I got most of it down. It really isn't that hard to play. At tempo it was a lot of fun to play cool especially the part in measure 24. A lot of the music repeats. I really think that 105 is achievable. crossedfingers.
I'm guessing the click track will be at tempo 105. Listen to the difference between 90 and 105 on a metronome. It isn't that much faster. Just my 3 cents worth, IMHO. blink

I'll go with whatever the group decides...that said, I ALWAYS like to shoot for the original tempo because I like to listen to a piece over and over to get the feel of it, so if we play it slower it tends to throw me off some, that happened with the "Bile em cabbage" tune. I was so accustomed to playing it at speed it was tough to slow down

Have tried all the parts and decided on Violin 1, simply to spare my aching arthritic fingers from the lower strings too much.  I was just getting into the rhythm, with the original movie track in my head, and then I tried setting the metronome to 105 ... dazed   blurry_drunk-2127

Bugger me ... think i'll bow out this time (no pun intended).

On the other hand, I might look for some software that will take my 80-ish recording and speed it up.  Might be achievable that way.

mix_master-1255

Whatever ... this looks like a wicked project, lots of fun.

If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're probably right.

Robyn, Don't give up. In the end I might be able to help you find software to speed up your track but the video will be harder. Maybe you can record yourself, speed up the track then do playback with video. In any case, give it your best shot. You still have plenty of time. thumbs-up

I finally redid the midi files so you guys can practice with the files and I'll try to get a click track done soon. In the meanwhile the midi files are in the correct tempo of 105 so you can use them for practice.

I'll also see about finding time to make the demo videos for those of you who actually look at them. serenade

Work hard guys. I and others are here for questions and advise. Please plan on participating. All this work is not worth much without participants.

Be thinking about what you will be wearing as well. Come up with a real cool outfit and you can use it for any Halloween party coming up.
