Steve vai shows how he can play any style, and is considered one of the best guitarists and session players in the world.

@stringy  Makes arpeggios look easy; just amazing.  I'm not smart on guitar things, but seeing this reminds me of Yngwie Malmsteen in my youth (many. . . too many years ago).

Characterize people by their actions and you will never be fooled by their words.

I've loved Steve Vai since back when he started with Frank Zappa - he's a few years younger than me, but THAT'S A LOT OF YEARS playing guitar!  I didn't know anything about guitar, but he stood out.

LOVE Yngwie Malmsteen, but didn't know about him until a few months ago - probably because he was in Sweden & I wasn't following a lot outside of the U.S. at the time.  I happened to be digging around for more info on different treatments done to instrument fingerboards (like scalloping) & right about that time Rick Beato interviewed him (great interview).  Very cool how he got interested in playing those fabulous runs & arpeggios - by listening to violinists playing Classical music!

Paganinis favourite instrument was guitar.

He was an exceptional guitarist. If electric guitar had been around in those days I doubt violin would have lasted very long. The projection wouldn't have been needed, same goes for double bass, and most string instruments.
