Me and my girlfriend recently were lucky enough to visit the wonderful city of Venice on holiday, and while we were there we did the usual things, ate ice cream, took in the sites, went on a gondola ride and even went to see La Traviata. However, none of that could hold a candle to a performance we saw the second night there, a local church group where holding a small performance in a small building (20 people at the most watching).
It was entitled:
Virtuosi di Venezia
and it has to be one of the most moving performances I've ever seen, the sheer emotion on the lead violinists face almost reduced us to tears, he was truly masterful.
We bought the album on the way out, it was entitled:
Le Quattro Stragioni di Vivaldi
The album is good but to be there in such a small space and feel the emotion was just stupendous!
If anyone gets the chance to go to Venice look out for this group, they were playing in a little hall on St Marks Square when we went. Absolutely worth the amount we paid to get in, which was hardly anything.
