Oh my gosh! Those guys playing at the end made their violins sound like space ships!
That was so funny! I'm gonna go try that now.
Me: -makes high screechy sounds on my violin-
Mom: What the heck are you doing?!
Me: Trying to make my violin sound like a space ship!
Mom: ... well, it doesn't sound like a space ship. What it does sound like is annoying!

I don't really know but I've always been intrigued with the piece. I knew a former coworker who had a childhood of classical training in Hungary. She told me that to be an accepted violin virtuoso in Hungary, it was absolutely necessary to perform The Lark. So, I can just imagine a bunch of little kids trying to make those sounds

Fabulous! There is a band called Schwarze Augen (German Zigeuner band?) that does a nice version of this on their album Zigan-Tzigan, called "Die Lerche". Nice band.
