Been a while since I've been on here...it's nice to be back!
Just wanted to pass the word on a pretty cool event my family and I attended this past weekend...the Appalachian String Festival at Clifftop, WV. I gather this is a pretty popular event so many have probably been here before but this was our first time.
Really, really enjoyed it. I loved being in a place where the vast majority of people were carrying banjo's, fiddles, guitars, or mandolins and just walking around. The formal competition events were great and I think I enjoyed the flat foot competition most of all. But the best part was these little groups that would form in random places and just play together. I got the impression that many of these were complete strangers or only recent friends and they would sit down and play together for a few tunes and then move on to another group!
Not my video, but here is one example of a larger one...
Youtube also has some great videos of the competitions if you type in "clifftop 2015".
There were over 5,000 people there representing most states in the US and over a dozen other countries worldwide.
Were there any other fiddlerman members in attendance?
