No, I'm not even close to ready...LOL. I come from a background of rock n roll and wanted to share what I have been listening to. Led Zeppelin is one of many bands as far as song writing goes that is really good and one of my favorites that made it out of the sixties and most of the seventies. I have a strong feeling Fiddlerman that you could smoke him out of the water

Is there a way to upload mp3's. I have a version of Led Zepplin's Kashmir played by a famous female cello player whose name escapes me. It was a free download from National Public Radio. She was interviewed on the air and made a live recording in the studio. The audio fades in and out a little in the beginning, but then stabilizes quickly. It is not copyrighted material as far as I know. I tried to upload it with the media link using windows media as the player. In the browse box it indicated it would play mp3's but all I get is the blank box thing.

I never have been a fan of rock. I was country when it wasn't cool. I don't mind listening to it sometimes but would rather listen to country bluegrass or Celtic.
I have had a David Davidson cd for years the song "Plainsong" was the first one I eventually would like to play.
Others are:
Mark O'Conner
Celtic woman
Michael Cleveland.
Michael makes me wonder, when I practice if my looking at where I'm placing my fingers is hindering me from hearing if I'm actually on the correct note.

I had the pleasure to hear Michael Cleveland in a rather small theater so I could study his playing. I do not doubt that his condition has added to his already natural talents.
At one point he stopped the show and went on solo fiddle and played a waltz. Totally awesome. Makes me wonder what sounds might be inside my violin if I only knew hold to get them out. Daydream only …. MC is in a class by himself.
(Check out a local boy named Jake Krack. I noticed in one YouTube video that there was an ambulance just off the edge of the park with the audience on the lawn. Might have been there in case anybody lost their breath
(just found him)

MC is from my area, about 10 years ago I was at a small gathering that use to meet every month, it was called the "fiddlers club". Michael wa a guest I had never seen or heard heard of him before then. I have been a fan of his every since.
I may never be as good as those guys. But I'll sure have fun trying, the more I play the bigger my desire gets.

Yes, the name of the mp3 I downloaded is kashmirbeiser.mp3. So you got it. She was saying when she first started playing Kashmir, she did not like thumping on her over 100 year old cello. After some time she got over it I guess, it does sound as if she is really thumping it pretty good. I am going to watch the video now, thanks for finding that clip for everyone.
Which reminds me of another version of Kashmir by a group called the Ordinaires. The tempo is a little slower, but very enjoyable.

I LOVE Roma/Lautari/Tzigane/Gitane/Gitano/Manouche/ and Gypsy Jazz music! Klezmer too!
Roby Lakatos- virtuoso!
-his Czardas will make your mouth drop.
Taraf-De-Haidouks- my favorite is the younger fiddler with the blissful toothy grin.
And a recent favorite, these guys, Les Yeux Noirs (Eric and Oliver Slabiak).
My fave tunes are Brider Tanz, Dobre Dien Romale (makes me cry, so beautiful and mournful), Tiganeasca, and Balkanski Cocek (:
Hai Romale!
-I tried to post video examples, but they wouldn't show (even in HTML)!!!

Klezmer, Oh yeah baby. Klezmer is da bomb. Oy, did I say that? LOL
Issac Stern, Heifetz, the gals who won the fist Britons got talent. I forget their name, and my dad. Charlie Daniels and anyone who can really play! Hillary Hahn, and well the list goes on. I am discovering new violinist every day.

I can't say that I have a specific Violinist, or violist for that matter, that inspired me. I do however have a single song that sparked my interest in "Strings" and I will probably get made fun for this but,:
"Uninvited", Alanis Morissette "City of Angels" Soundtrack
Poke Fun all you want But this is truly the song that set me on the path to playing a stringed instrument long before I even realized it.

I've always liked classical music, but have only in the past year really started picking out violin music as there is something about the violin that just...amasing really.
My gran would probably put someone like Andrei Rieu on here, but my taste seems to go to the less traditional players such as:
David Garrett:
Lindsey Stirling:
I like strong rhythms on the violin, so as well as these, Irish Folk music I also like so many great violinists out there that I have yet to discover!
