ARAB-AMERICAN music! 

Watched this new educational performance for The American Folklife Center of the Library of Congress - and really enjoyed it! 

The first melody played - provided enough enticement for me to learn more!

I've already posted about Turkish maqams & some tunes in this thread, but this caught my eye tonight, while I was looking at some Armenian music videos... 

How Music Works in Turkey (Traditional to Modern - from unclesu).  So nice to have a short, simple, overview explained in English!!!

 

...I do hate to see other Countries embrace rap music - suppose it's inevitable.  I love melodies as much as rhythm and while rap can be cool, it just seems like anti-melody (to me).
