I've started learning the violin in March 2017 after years of wanting to play the violin and not being able to due to lack of resources. Now I'm enjoying my journey into music so much. It's basically the thing that makes me smile everyday. I'm so glad to have found Fiddlerman's channel and this forum to share my passion for music with others as passionate as I am because when I talk about music with my friends and family they tend to start sleeping, lol.

Tipiaowsek,
Welcome to the forum, lots of adult starters here, lots of varied styles and levels of experience. But a common thread is music on the fiddle, as I've heard it called the "King of the melody instruments" and I concur with that assessment.

@Tipiaowsek, I'm also a recent member of this forum and I have to say it is the most supportive group of folks I've encountered.
One of the best features is the ability to post a video of yourself playing and getting constructive feedback. So far I haven't been able to cobble a method to record myself for doing this but have identified a microphone and camera and will be "exposing" myself and my violin soon.
Make sure to browse all the videos of fiddlerman and other members. There is a wealth of examples of how to improve your violining.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I went through some forum posts and this community does seem to be very welcoming and active indeed. I'll try to figure out how to record myself playing as constructive feedback on my playing would be great. For now I have only my family and they always say that I play well though I know I'm quite horrible at times!

I believe Mr Hyden had a fix for that When my kids were young I remember one coming home from school and excitedly told me that they were listening to that 'wake the old foggies up' music I had explained to her previously...
Welcome.
