Hi all,

I have been lurking here since last October when I started taking private violin lessons. I've learned a lot from my teacher and I've learned a lot from you folks. I saw the House of the Rising Sun group song right at its deadline and was sorry that I had missed it. When I went to see if the video had been posted I saw that The Addams Family music had just gone up and was quite excited to get in at the beginning rather than the end :^) so I took the music to my lesson last night to start on it. I'm 58 so I'm among the "young at heart" folks learning to play. I have just gotten to the phase where I don't care if the house is empty and the windows are open when I play - and it doesn't hurt MY ears anymore...most of the time :^) Of course I am not soliciting feedback from neighbors so I can't say if I am hurting their ears or not - I don't want to know - but nobody has called the authorities on me....yet :^)

My major in college (short-lived) was music with voice as my instrument...started organ lessons in 3rd grade, flute lessons during my college years, and picked up the guitar a few years back so I'm a bit ahead of someone that has to start from scratch - learning to read, etc. I retired a few years back and that is when I really started getting back into music - and I didn't realize how much I missed it!  Now it is what I do :^)

Hi there Kathy! Glad to hear you managed to get back to something you love! It's definitlely rewarding. smile

It's easy to play any musical instrument: all you have to do is touch the right key at the right time and the instrument will play itself. Johann S.Bach

Welcome to the forum Kathy. Given that you have music in your background you will probably do well with the violin. Being able to analyze yourself is a great part of the journey.
Thanks for your introduction, and we look forward to your future posts and getting to know your better. :)
