Hello!
I played violin as a kid (concertmaster in my high school, etc) and then set it down when I was 16 to pursue guitar...because I thought it would be cooler.
I still play the guitar, but part of me has always missed the violin. I got a free fiddle a few months ago, a solid-built knilling. I ended up buying a Century Strings v220 from my local shop as well (see my post about modding it, it's been a journey).
I'm taking lessons and getting back into it. The FM forum has been a great info source for me (another unmentioned forum or two are too uptight and poo-poo even shoulder rests). I appreciate the laid back, supportive environment!

Welcome Dimitri.
I know you'll enjoy the process of (re) learning violin. I know what you mean about the snobbish types that say you shouldn't use a shoulder rest - they need to have a look round the violin sections in any professional orchestra, as the majority of players use one. Some of us have long necks!
