Hello! I just joined this cool forum a few days ago. Great resource, Fiddlerman - well done, and much appreciated!
A bit about me - I'm from Glasgow, Scotland, now living in Eastleigh, England.
I'm pretty much self-taught, from the age of about 14. I started on guitar (and still play it a bit, and bluegrass banjo too) but I liked the sound of the fiddle a lot better. I learned mostly trad Irish and bluegrass tunes, and played in several small bands At age 30, I got the feeling that I could improve my tone and technique, so I went to a very good classical teacher, and had some heavy-duty tuition for about 3 years, and it certainly has paid off!
I play Irish, classical and bluegrass, plus I'm writing a lot of my own stuff. I posted a video in another thread (The Tornado) .. and that's the kind of thing I'm working on these days. I do a bit of teaching too.
I'm also learning gypsy jazz and Indian carnatic style too, and I have a day job as well - so I'm pretty busy
Good to be here...cheers!
Jim
