Hey everyone! I'm new to this forum. I played the violin in orchestra class in 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade. After that, I gradually stopped playing for about 4 years. I'm 18 now and in college. For the past few months I've been watching tons of people playing violin on youtube, including my favorite hip hop violinists Dsharp and Lindsey Stompard. This has made me really miss violin, so I'm gonna start playing again! I want to start with the basic stuff again to refresh my memory, then work on a lot of classical stuff which is really important. Eventually, I want to do things more in my own style with hip hop influences and some irish/celtic stuff. It will take a lot of practice for many year but I'm excited to get back into this!

It's really great that you are taking up playing again. There are so many member's here who played as youngster's, stopped playing and after many year's off have began again. I'm sure you will enjoy the great people here, there is a whole lot of knowledge compacted in this website.

That's VERY exciting that you're picking it back up again with the background that you have; it will be interesting to know if you've lost any of your "ear" or is it like a riding a bike,,, is it coming back almost immediately.

It is so good that you are taking up the violin again. I wish I had the benefit of having some experience before I started three months ago. I'm sure it'll be like riding a bike. (Hopefully, anyways...
