Just found the site while searching for beginner level stuff... My father has always been musical, and I thought that I'd skipped that gene...
Turns out I just hadn't found the right instrument... I hope... As I'd tried the Guitar and Mandolin without much luck in motivating and sticking with it...
He purchased a 1/4 size violin for my daughter (age 4) for Christmas and lessons to go along with it. That inspired me to get a student violin and try to learn with her...
She is just on lesson #3 and is doing very well for 4 years old, while I am chomping to get into learning something more.... I think that I finally found the instrument of choice! I am very excited to learn and be able to finally play with others!
So far I have started with "Happy Birthday" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and am working on learning to tune better and faster.
Any tips and tricks will be appreciated, and I am in process of watching the video's on this site. So glad that you have a simple easy approach!
All I can tell you is to enjoy learning. If you get bored with one thing leave it go to something else and come back to it later. That is what works for me.
