Good evening,
I'm an aspiring beginner at the age of 46. I was in the band in middle and high school and played trumpet and baritone horn. I have always wanted to learn the violin. Where I grew up there were no violin teachers and my school only had band. That was way before the internet, so I look forward to the new journey!

Welcome! There's a surprising number of former low brass players here. I played euphonium and trombone in school bands before I started learning strings, and there was a thread where a bunch of other people mentioned playing low brass too.

First instrument I ever played was a trombone, but I'm glad to say, never again, I really don't like the instrument now. I have however developed a love of the sackbut recently.

I started violin at the age 49, but that was 20+ years ago. I'm still a beginner, but slowly improving and really enjoying it.
Keep it up and don't feel shy about sharing videos here about your progress. Great productive feedback available here.

Welcome! I started in my mid 50's...been at it about 4 1/2 years. Never too old to learn.
A once brass player here too. My school band didn't have strings. Only woodwinds, drums and brass. I played trumpet. Much like Gordon, I would not go back to it again but it was an educational experience.
