Hello from Washington state. I'm a 50-something new granny and new fiddle player. I started taking fiddle lessons in the summer of 2012. I do a lot of the care for my baby grandson, so sometimes I don't get to practice music as long or as often as I'd like, but I figure that's fine as long as I don't actually give up. My husband and I play with the other musicians at our church (he does guitar) and we're looking for a beginner-friendly group to play bluegrass with in our area. I joined the forum here after seeing all the wonderful group project videos.

Welcome. It's a lot of fun here.
Opportunity is often missed because it wears suspenders and looks like hard work.

Thank you for all the welcomes.
Our church does have pretty good acoustics, but I'm not really at the stage to welcome that. I still struggle in search of a good tone, and I can't play the melody at speed so usually I just play the root of whatever chord the guitarists are strumming. Fortunately, the piano player, the bass player, and the singing of the congregation are loud enough to compensate for any mistakes. I just keep reminding myself, "Think how much better you'll be playing this time next year, if you keep at it." So I keep at it.
