I'm new here and new to the violin. I purchased a used student violin, tuned it, and started playing March 1st.

I gave a go at learning from YouTube and ViolinLab. I also picked up a couple of books: Essential Elements for Strings and Suzuki 1. I've decided I need to find myself a local instructor here in Columbus, Ohio. A little pedagogy and some personalized instructions just might go a long way, eh? That and a chin rest that fits!

I think I have Twinkle Twinkle down. Ode to Joy is coming along, and I'm learning The Force Theme and Reel Saint-Antoine for the fun of it. My dream is to someday play Caprice 24.

About your chin rest... you might want to check out the Fiddlershop - they recently came out with a new one!

They have quite a few different shapes and heights, also for different positioning on your violin.

You can always give them a call & discuss it.

Glad to hear it, welcome to the forum tempogenix!!!

Good luck on both. Keep in mind that though it's called chin-rest, you should use your chin to hold the violin. Think of it more as a jaw-rest.

Feel free to share if you dare 😁
You may get helpful tips. Kind of like free lessons. 🍻
