It has been a while since I was last tangled up in writing, but I have been there.  

I do miss writing, and do need to get back to it at some point.

For me, getting into the violin was out of nostalgia, as well as desire. I had played in elementary school, but had to give it up. It took many, many, years for me to finally pick up playing again, but here I am. Enjoying myself immensely.  

At four months in now, I think my playing skills may actually be better than when I was a kid. I had about a year and a half of lessons back then, but I was far less dedicated to practicing at home than I am now. Although I lack an instructor these days, I do have dedication, drive, and access to a lot of information here online, and in the books I have purchased.
