Hello Bruce!! I think I'm your closest neighbor...Louisiana.
If you ever want to get together with some cajun fiddlers, there's a jam 1st sunday of every month in Arnaudville Louisiana...potluck...1pm until they're worn out. I haven't been yet, but hope to soon. It's a fiddle shop, so you can get repairs done or just look at hundreds of fiddles hanging around!
You may have to make a weekend of it, but it's a great little cajun town to visit.
Let me know if you need info and welcome!

Hey man, Cajun music just like other styles ie Irish, Cape Breton etc is all about the bowing style. You can make just about anything sound Cajun in an instant.

Hi there Bruce. Welcome to Fantasy Island... OK, how About Fiddlerman Island. Cajun music!!! Allot of good Cajun classics. I can't wait to hear your progress and the song choices you are playing. Usually if you post what you are working on others will pick it up and try it likewise. Oh, one more thing....Just don't listen to PFish. Before too long, you'll be playing proper violin, with perfect form and be reciting masterpieces by the likes of Brahms, Beethoven, and Chopin. We certainly don't want that. heheh sorry PF.

Hello Bruce from here in Huntsville, Texas (sorry Dogandponyshow)! Welcome to the forum. The members are great and offer lots of great advice.
I love cajun music (and I also love to shop in Canton)! I'm really looking forward to hearing some great cajun sounds from you. aaaahhhheeee! And remember, you don't have to wait to post until you are good. I'm terrible and am still trying to figure out how to post right now because then I'll get even more great advice.
