Hi,
I've been interested in playing the violin for at least 15 years. I've finally made plans to make that happen in the near future and figured I'd get a head start. A friend of mine recommended me to here as well as giving me lessons on his violin. I really enjoyed it and look forward to continuing.
I started in music about 14 years ago with guitar. In the last five years or so I've taken a long deep descent into synthesizers. More recently I got into modular synthesizers from making music to soldering and building modules.
Musicwise I grew up listening to classical and have since added various genres of metal and industrial/electronic.
Violinwise, I'm interested in more dark and unnerving intricate classical pieces as well as folk (e.g., Scandinavian).
Anyhow, I'm glad to be here and can't wait to start learning and playing.
Cheers!

Indeed!
Folk metal / Viking: Ensiferum, Equilibrium, Fejd (not really metal), Eluveitie, Blackguard, Finntroll, Korpiklaani, Moonsorrow, Amon Amarth, Ásmegin, Windir, etc.
Symphonic metal: Dimmu Borgir, Nightwish (Tarja [be quite Eric]), Fleshgod Apocalypse, Midnattsol, Old Man's Child, Sonata Arctica, Symphony X, etc.
Some are better examples of the genre than others.
Good times! And a double greeting from the Fiddlerman himself!
Thank you all again, and I look forward to partaking more.
Cheers!

@frozenkore
Ok I don't know what happened there....I was quoting the bands you were mentioning and where did my part go? off into the wild blue cyberyonder I guess.
Anway, what I was saying was that Nightwish's "While your lips are still red" was probably the inspiration behind me taking up the fiddle/violin. Then I said i really dig the goats head bagpipe in Eluveite. Which I happen to be listening to right now.

so lets try this again.

What can I say, I'm just a friendly, welcoming kind of guy. LOL
What this really shows is that even though I have a GREAT memory.... It is VERY short. ROFL
BTW, welcome to the forum Erik.
I think that has to do with all that rosin dust that's been going around all these years! LOL ......and thanks for the warm welcome! ......again!
@frozenkore I thought Equilibrium was more of a South American/Inca/Indian Metal band?!? Especially after hearing Unbesiegt! (one of my favorite songs by them, by the way! LOL) Thanks for telling me about them all those years ago!
