That’s it now , day and night, scales , practice, never being able to put it down. I am a guitarist, and bought the violin as a challenge best thing I ever did . Welcome to the club.

@ejdale -LOL 100% on that with stringy there ! Very similar path to me with the devil's own instrument !!!!
You're gonna love it and hate it in equal measure in the early days - but - WOW does it get better !!! Enjoy the journey with your new instrument !
**EDIT** - and as a guitar player - you'll get this.... the first day I got my first fiddle home with me (having NEVER played it, or one before- it was ( well, still IS) a "SkyLark" - but these-days, it's now restrung as the lower 4 strings of a 5--string fiddle - a cheap viola... LOL) anyway - back to the story - for about 15 or so seconds, once I had quickly figured out (approximate, but close enough fingering) - of course - you wanna do that pitch-bend-thing we ALL do on guitar!
Aye - I say 15 seconds- probably less - yup - vibrato/slides are done quite differently !
LOLOLOL - yeah - well, I didn't know any better (for the 15 seconds or so!)
Fiddle = Total pleasure. Awesome....
I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - 
Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)
