Brand-spanking new here! My name is Austin! Also brand new to the fiddle! My grandpa used to play it. He passed recently so I'm trying to carry the torch. Can anyone relate?

Welcome to the forum, @invisiblewasp. I just went you a Welcome Email. If you don't see it in your inbox, please check your spam folder. I have information about the forum in there for you. I thought I had emailed you on 9/25, but I don't see it in my list. Sorry.

So pleased to have you with us. It is nice to have your grandpa's fiddle. It will mean that much more to you when you play it.

Welcome to the forum!

@invisiblewasp -

Welcome to the Forum!

Terribly sorry to hear about your Grandfather.

I heard stories of my one Grandfather (who died before I was born) - he played several different string instruments - definitely made me feel I was capable, but I wish I could've started when I was younger!

Learning the violin is like any good adventure, there will be ups & downs - we'll all help the best we can.

Have you checked out the Fiddlerman tutorials

If you'd like more help & can't find a local teacher that suits you, check out 'The Academy'https://academy.fiddlershop.com/

Welcome Austin! I'm quite the newbie myself. That's so wonderful that you have your grandfather's fiddle. My dad always wanted to learn to play the violin but was never able to...I think he's happy I'm picking it up again.
