Hi everyone, I'm new here and I was wondering if anyone had tips for me. I've always wanted to learn violin so I am going to be getting my first violin from ebay due to affordable prices. Are Mendini's and cecilio's good brands?
I would go with Cecilio. You can also buy Cecilio violins from http://www.Fiddlershop.com . I have a Cecileo electric which works just fine for me. Don't expect to get a 500.00 violin for 100.00 but they will serve you fine.
You can start learning before you own a violin, like holding the bow can be done with a pencil and practice bowing. Use the learning tools and games then when your violin comes you should be able to start playing right away.
Just remember you are never too old to learn to play violin.
Any questions just ask and someone if not everyone will help you.

The biggest tip I have besides checking out all the information and how to videos is that you share your progress and questions here just as you already have.
Posting videos is like going to a teacher to have a lesson. We can make comments and give constructive criticism. Set you on the right track. Best of all, it's all free and everyone is nice and respectful about it.
