I hope it's not too late to introduce myself!
My name is Anastasiya, but i don't like it so everybody call me Naska =)
Here is my long boring story about violin and me..
I wanted to play violin since i was a child. But for several reasons my parents didn't want me to play music.. So i grew up without.. Dreaming about..
Later when i said that i want to play violin everybody told me : "It's too difficult, you had to learn since childhood, now it's too late..." And i believed.. (stupid me). So i played guitar, bass guitar and piano (synthesizer actually). Totally unprofessional and without passion... Because all my thoughts about music were somewhere around violin.
At last i gave up and bought one in summer of 2008. Brought it home and... My mom refused to listen to my false scales (our music stores don't have any mutes but even if they did - i couldn't imagine that thing ). So i've found an earless place ... and was happy for a month approximately .. I played open strings with crooked bow on untuned violin =D.
Then Autumn came =/
And i was waiting for the next summer... .
Then i decided that playing once-a-year is not a good practice. And in February of 2010 was lucky to get an e-violin.
I was extremely happy! But couldn't play it more then 10 min at-once. As was found later my e-v had it's strings too high and fingerboard - too low! But i thought that it should be that way (i believed that all people who make violins know what they do). So i played by ear everything i wanted to. I enjoyed 4 months or something like that.. And became a proud owner of almost all of the bad habits.. But then my left fingers refused to press strings - they were too damaged and i could play only once in a month. No need to tell that there was no even a smell of any progress..
15.04.2011 i've met my violin teacher Liliya Askhatovna. And we started to fix my bad habits and make me something similar to a real violinist =) She is great !!
Then in October 2011 i've found you guys!!! well, all the rest you know..
Now i'm happy!
ps. that post is second first story is gone somewhere

Naska, I took lessons in Elementry School, and again in Jr High, My dad played for a comedic musical group, Spike Jones and His band of Renoun. Or something like that. Well my mother forced me to play because my dad played. I didn't practice, and went nowhere, then I tried again in Jr High and again didn't have the passion.
I am now 63 years old, may have lung cancer and if I follow my parents, The both died of lung cancer and a heart condition from smoking, I will not become and expert Violinist, but, I have a passion to learn and become as good as my abilities allow. The Passion for Music and the instrument you love is your life. If your15 passion in genuine, you will be great. Be faithfull to the choices you make, and do all that you do with the passion you have for the violin and you will live a wonderfull and successful life!

Welcome Naska
I've seen you play and I can assure you that you've got a very promising future playing violin.
I'm glad you found Liliya, she will make lots of difference to your playing, and turn it from hit-and-miss to beautiful music.
If you think you can, or you think you can't, you're probably right.

I like to use screen names so I will keep calling you Mad Wednesday But nice to meet you. (again!! )
It's great you found Fiddlerman's site, and a good private instructor. Do you play Russian 7 string guitar? Or just regular 6 string?
I have a lot of Youtube video saved of people playing the 7 string guitar.
Your posts make me laugh, but it will take me two hours to decipher what it is you guys are all doing after you roll on the floor laughing here soon!!!
Best wishes! and Happy Halloween in about 3 hours my time!

I translated what I wrote above back to English, and it did not translate quite right, but that's ok.

when i came here was no such "Introduction" forum. I guess you guys were the first, who gave an idea to FiddlerMan. I just thought, that all who comes here introduces him/her self and maybe somebody is interested about those, who is already here… (not too much earlier actually ). Thanks, LB!!! =)
@RP :

Yes, Anastasiya is a real nice name.
Анастасия/Anastasia translates from Greek like "reviving" . I don't mind for dark humor, but don't want to …revive =) ROTFFLMAOWTO
@HeadCheese:
"Mad" I can guess at, but what about "Wed?"
Many years it was WAD.. You know, i didn't choose that nickname, my friends did =) Now i guess it's like Wednesday..

Original nick name {Russian style} is Безумный_Комок.
@MGN:

I forgot about the caps with ear flaps! I do like Balalaika music though!
Mad.... Here, our washing machines and driers make our socks magically disappear. Or maybe a sock troll comes and steals them.... But it has nothing to do with anyone actually misplacing them!
