Hello all.
I have been playing guitar for 35 years (dabbling with mandolin and mountain dulcimer although not quite that long) and it would seem as I approach 50, my mid-life crisis will be learning to play violin. I found this place as I am researching my first purchase. It's a real treasure trove of information for us newbies!

As luck would have it, after mentioning learning violin - a friend tells me he just upgraded and offered me his old one. So I'll be starting with a Hoffman concert. I think the first song I will attempt is "Cat Being Strangled To Death" in G major... Now off to fiddleshop.com for some rosin and a shoulder rest!
