Oh you too funny Lorna - we'll have fun, I wished I'd asked you what a capo was before I posted it here, now I feel kinda silly, but I hadn't seen you in ages!

Welcome to the forum, its a lot of fun, and you can learn stuff, like those double soppy things you wanted.

My goal is to play anything I want!! I want to learn orange blossom special, last of the Mohicans, Devil went down to Georgia, Gypsy Waltz, and so many more songs! I want to learn fiddle stops along with other techniques of course! I have only been playing for a couple of years off and on with just a few lessons. My husband has a small band and would like me to play the fiddle. I am very left handed, and sometimes I am frustrated. Also, Mimi advised me that she will be looking after me because she is more matured!! Mimi is an amazing person and friend!! I am looking forward to start learning more with your help!!violin-1267

I think you guys will be looking after each other. :)

This reminds me of the last episodes of Grace and Frankie (don't read further if you are watching and not caught up) who end up in an assisted living facility because they are convinced by their children that the other person needs help. LOL
They are too good friends to let each other go by themselves and not be with each other. <---- Not saying this is you guys, but I thought about the last episodes while reading your exchanges.

yes FM, I don't watch the show but you probably nailed it!

...we were probably separated at birth, and when we do get a chance to visit it usually turns into a comical adventure of some sort.

Booked a violin lesson next week together, its about an hour away so we doubling up - hoping it goes well...cheerleader

Yes we did - Giggled all the way there and back....both in the same awesome lesson, in a church, nice large rehearsal room. He played our violins and looked them over, and let us play his violin and use his bow to see how it felt, the bow alone was from 1907 and cost $20,000! - I was kinda too scared to play it (Im a little clumsy when nervous) but Lorna did!

We alternated, learnt a ton, he played along with us on different things, left feeling all excited and confident....he sent us to his friends shop to get my sound pole tweeked, visited for a long time, super nice people, got the grand tour of their beautiful violins, and I came away with mine sounding like heaven!

Unfortunately Lorna had to leave hers in overnight to be tickled up...but I'm it will sound just as lovely when she gets it back, overall a great experience and great day, booked in again in 2 weeks...he gave us both different stuff to work on, and told us to bring any kind of music we wanted him to work through with us too...Yippee!

Haaa, WELCOME @Lornadoon

Enjoy your fiddle / violin journey !  There will be some bad times, but, when it all comes together, you'll just understand WHY you took this path...

Hello everyone! Haven't been on here for awhile, been a bit busy lately, Mimi keeps me going too, (always a laugh, true friend!) I also wanted to share that I purchased a Jon Paul Fusion bow from Fiddler shop and Love it!!!! It inspired me to work harder at playing the fiddle, I still consider myself as a beginner, but this bow is awesome!! A gift to me for Mother's Day!yaaaa_gif

Congrats on your new Mothers Day bow Lori.

Thanks for the visit. How is your violin journey going so far?

Also, thank you so much for your business. We really appreciate it.
