Hi All,
Luthie here…aka Kay.
just started to play this spring. Using Allison sparrow’s online lessons. Have completed the first 10 and am working on the first song book.
I live in rush ny but spend summer weekends in the 1000 Islands. I like to practice on my docked boat!
here is a pic of me practicing in the yard while I enjoy the water view.
I bought a bubble g1 to get started.

How are you getting on with Alison Sparrow ? I’ve also been doing her lessons I accidentally missed out song book one and moved onto lessons 11-20 ? I’ve been learning almost a year now! How are you finding it ? You look like you are well in the way from your pic 😀

Welcome to the forum, Luthie. I have Alison Sparrow's song books. I don't follow as a lesson schedule, just play some of those songs.
I am mostly cello, but like viola and violin. Actually been doing more on violin, lately.
You should check out the Party Room. Maybe there is a party or two you can join in one. The first post in each party pretty much tells you the type of song to do a video of you playing for that party. I am not positive, without checking, but I think the current one is a slow song. The party rooms never close, so old parties are still active.

I know so little that if Allison Sparrow isn't a good teacher I wouldn't know! I assume she picked the songs in book one because they build on each other and slowly move you forward. Mostof them I have never hearde before so I have to learn the tune in order to know when I play it wrong. This is slowing me down a bit.
Yes, Bunnell G1, not bubble g1 (darn spell checker on I phone)!
BTW...the name Luthie is actually the name I gave my violin. It is a take off on luthier and it rhymes with Ruthie aka Ruth Bader Ginsburg, one of my personal heroes.
I have been meaning to learn the violin for decades. I am nearly retired so now have the bandwidth to do so. Enjoying to the hilt.

Have you tried any of the wonderful Fiddlerman Tutorials?
I always think it's great to try tutorials from many different sources - even if you're only working on one tune in particular, it's more points of view.
