I'm a new member of the forums and wanted to introduce myself and provide some background information.
I'm a 29 year-old violin student who has been playing around 7-8 months now. I have around 18 years of overall music experience though and have played on a variety of instruments throughout the years such as saxophone, trumpet, piano and voice, but violin has been a great passion of mine and I adore every minute spent playing.
I've had two teachers now since I began playing, the first teacher I had for around 6 months and switched due to her moving across states and virtual lessons became a bit tricky with scheduling and whatnot. With her we studied the Suzuki method and got through book 2, but supplemented it with some shifting techniques and vibrato. I just recently switched to my second teacher and they have been teaching me via Wolfhart Book 2/Scales method and lessons have been more technical and theory based. Additionally, we are working on Mozart No 3. the first movement to supplement with the Etudes.
I'm also trying to get more comfortable playing in front of people, including a camera so if there's a space here or on another site where I can post playing videos that would be great! I always appreciate constructive feedback and love sharing my playing with people.
Addition by Mouse: liliths has a question in the Learning area. Here is the link. She is asking for inout from members:

Thanks, and it's a bit of relief to know that others are the same way as well. I've been working on a repertoire of easy, fun pieces so I can start casually playing at parks or in front of friends, but taking that initial leap has been a bit challenging.
And good to know, I would love to join in on the group project!

@liliths -
Welcome to the forum!
Sounds like you are making good progress in a very short time.
Recording yourself playing is encouraged here. As you look over the forum you'll find places where others have shared videos of themselves playing and have asked for Critiques. There's a Party Room, or you can start your own Blog to help chart your progress.

@liliths Welcome to the Forum! Looks like you’ve got a great start!
Recording yourself playing is a very useful, effective learning tool, and many of us here on the Forum utilize it. We are a positive, supportive group of primarily adult learners (we do have some young ones, too!).
As such, we’ve got a lot of spaces on here for you to post playing videos including those mentioned above by others:
Critique-Corner—Post your video and ask for specific and/or general feedback from other forum members: https://fiddlerman.com/forum/c.....ue-corner/
Share a Video—unlike critique, you are just sharing your playing with forum members: https://fiddlerman.com/forum/s.....e-a-video/
Party Room—join an already created topic, or create your own. Member creates a theme, posts a video that fits that theme, and invites others to join; a fun, challenging way to share & discover new tunes: https://fiddlerman.com/forum/party-room/
Forum Member Blogs—create your own blog to track your progress. Sometimes members include videos of what they’re working on here: https://fiddlerman.com/forum/f.....ers-blogs/
Also, virtual group projects (under topics headings Fiddlerman Group Projects, Members Own Group Projects).
Lots of good information and support here for your violin journey
Characterize people by their actions and you will never be fooled by their words.
